Yes Eichel needs surgery. But nothing reporting that he cannot be the player he is capable once he is healthy. If anything he should be good as new.

Trading for him now is a gamble because he hasn’t had the surgery yet and he won’t be able to play until December. But he’s going to be 25 next month. That’s very young. Still has five years on his deal. Giving up Lafrenierre is a risk too but he hasn’t proven yet if he is the player he was projected to be (still 19). He could be but who knows. Eichel is proven. Top 5 in the league. Maybe Drury includes conditions on the deal if Eichel doesn’t play X number of games in his first year or over the length of the deal. I don’t know. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Again where are the Rags going to put JE and his 10 mil.. they simply cannot afford him unless somehow they get Sabres to take Trouba and his disaster of a contract and play back. And to do that .. they would really have to up the package.

Keep a player they don’t need? Every team in the NHL could use more players like Kotkaniemi. The ‘Canes just got that much better on both sides of the puck. It’s like saying the Panthers traded for a player they didn’t need in Reinhart 🤦‍♂️.

Lafreniere+ should be where the conversation starts with any trade involving the Rags and Eichel.

There is only one GM dumber than Marc Bergevin and that's Don Waddel. What an absolute (frank)ing moron. KK is not an NHL quality player. I would not be surprised to see the guy in the AHL this year. Only reason he made the NHL was because he was playing on the worst team in the league.

IF Eichel healthy than having Laf as part of the deal would be fine..BUT Eichel having untested neck surgery and getting artificial vertebrate implants. Can't see this deal happening. Too many unknowns

I would give up Stutzle for a healthy Eichel, and Stutzle looks better than LaFreniere so far....
