I did not mean right now.

I meant from the time those #3 picks were drafted and put in the NHL... they have become wasted picks because the Habs have no clear strategy or plan to develop those players, get them ready for the NHL with coaching and proper training, and mental maturity... just throw them in the NHL when they are clearly not ready and see if they sink.

Most likely, kids of that age will sink.

they've improved their approach significantly in the AHL though in recent years, let's hope the new coach continues with the same kind of development mentality that Bouchard had.

having said that, a successful farm team doesn't mean a whole lot if you don't utilize it to actually develop players and make them more NHL-ready, such as in KK's case.

Perhaps it was a "(frank) You" back after a perceived "(frank) You" from the Habs organization (benching, likely contract offer, other things - he was not coming back, at least, not long-term)...

Not defending the $20 or the "(frank) you", but I get it.

I found it kinda funny, and at the same time unprofessionalI, it isn't something I'd be proud about lol... but I guess it generates a lot of conversation.

apparently Pierre LaCroix sent a middle finger by fax to Rangers’ GM Neil Smith after he offersheeted Joe Sakic, that's also good stuff lol

Heh.

I think the media made more out of it than it really was, but you know sports media in Canada when it comes to hockey....

That's a big cap hit for a player who's averaged 30 pts / season over 171 games

yeah, perhaps the Canes weren't expecting MB to actually walk away with the picks, and now they're like "oh, (frank), I guess now we have to pay the guy, huh..." lol.

silver lining is it's only 1 year.

If he delivers on his potential then they can go long-term.

If he doesn't, they are not stuck. Sure it cost them a 1st, but many teams have wasted those at the Draft table. cough2015cough.

Still think there is an agreement on a multi-year extension (to be signed), at a significant lower AAV.

actually I think it's 2 years, the Canes either have to offer the same amount again, or sign him to a multi-year deal, if the player agrees to do so.

it's very likely that this already has been discussed if they're actually interested in the player. to me it kinda looks like revenge was the main goal, and acquiring KK was almost secondary, but it would be a very dumb move if all this time they didn't really believe in the guy.

So with Dvorak addition, are we a wildcard team next year?

I don't think Dvorak moves the needle that much, he should be fine but he most likely won't be a real difference maker either... but yeah, wildcard team sounds about right, although I'm still hoping Bergevin has another trade or 2 in the works to improve the team a bit. depending on how Price manages to play at a decent level, and on what offensive contribution Caufield will bring, it could be an interesting season (and not depressing AF, as some here are claiming lol)

Why would KK agree to a 3 year 12 M$ contract after getting 6M at 21 years old. I dont think the Canes are foolish enough to offer a long term contract without having him play a year. And i dont see KK signing for less if he can bank in 12M over the next 2 years.

euh oui, quand même pas mal de fromage, et différentes sortes en même temps, préférablement.

kick s'est sûrement faite des ptites tartelettes aux tomates et cannabis, l'acidité des tomates s'agence bien avec le weed lol

Nah. They wanted him.

If you actually want to get the player you have to be willing to spend more than the guy is actually worth. You have to give them a contract that their own team finds unattractive.

Canes had the space to do it for this year. I think they see him as the Jordan Staal replacement long term.

Switch Poehling and Evans. I see more offensive potential there.

Also Hoffman and JD we'll see in the first month, for sure, switched up. I think it's JD's spot to lose.

Not sold on Dvorak yet. That'll take time... I hope.

makes sense, it's just that the details surrounding it (like the 20$ bonus lol) had me thinking the motive behind the offer sheet was more about the vendetta than grabbing KK.

I would've preferred to keep him to be honest, I think he's going to become a more than decent centerman, something the habs had been needing for so long. hopefully Dvorak will fit in well, although I'm not considering him as KK's replacement, since I think the latter's ceiling is much higher.

it's lacking a bit of grit and size, but I like the offensive potential of that 1st line.
