voilà. bottom line, Habs are a better team today than they were yesterday.
a few years from now, who knows? - fidopro
Yes time will tell. Although, I watched almost every 9ne of his games since he was drafted and he's shown very little so far. |

I don't think Dvorak moves the needle that much, he should be fine but he most likely won't be a real difference maker either... but yeah, wildcard team sounds about right, although I'm still hoping Bergevin has another trade or 2 in the works to improve the team a bit. depending on how Price manages to play at a decent level, and on what offensive contribution Caufield will bring, it could be an interesting season (and not depressing AF, as some here are claiming lol) - Pat1993
So you honestly think KK is better than Dvorak??? wow

true, otherwise they would have matched.
it just shows how bad of a pick it was. maybe that's why MB didn't meet the press |

Dvorak's a fine player. Probably better right now than KK is.
Will he be next year though? Or two years from now? That's a much tougher sell.
I just don't get how it even got to this point. Bergevin had to know there was an offer sheet out there. Hell, according to Friedman, Dreger and LeBrun, the Canes straight up warned him they were going to do this if Montreal wouldn't make a trade.
Just show a little faith in the kid, offer him 3 years at $3 million per two months ago and none of this happens. - BINGO!
If you think he would accept that offer you are more coo coo than he is

Sure, Dvorak as a 3C on a contending team, pretty much what I said. MB brought him in to be a 2C, that's the obvious problem. If a legitimate 25 year old 2C was on the market for a mid to late future 1st and a distant 2nd he'd have been traded for by another team long ago. This was a desperation move, fine, could be much worse, but to celebrate MB for anything is this fiasco is nonsense to me - Takemedrunkimhome
Another Bergy hater ....yipeeeee

So to recap:
Bergevin tries to get Aho, doesn't, and loses Kotkaniemi as a result.
He turned the 2018 3rd overall pick into Christian Dvorak and a 3rd. |

What was the offer? Surely lower than a 1st and a 3rd.
They should just admit they did it out of spite. I mean, own it.
...and own the trolling too. |

Market rate for him was somewhere around $2.5 million per. So a short term $3 million per deal isn't unreasonable. |

Typically when you compare a 21 year old and a 25 year old, you anticipate more development from the 21 year old, let alone their "pedigree". - Takemedrunkimhome
We get it---- Bergy sucks---Dvorak has hit his plateau--- and KK is the next Bergeron--- my God
|
|
|
|
That's just it. There's no reason any of this had to happen. Bergevin went hard into "win now" mode to save his own ass and now is paying for it. Carolina saw that, found an opening, and lobbed a grenade into the Habs' long term plans. - BINGO!
All the while letting go of their number one goalie for a sieve---
letting go of Hamilton for an extra million and then bringing in a racist--- yup top notch GM there

They have owned the trolling. Waddell said they got the marketing team involved before KK officially signed. Called the $20 bonus a "collective idea."
But why would you offer more than what the offer sheet compensation is? Especially if you actually want the player? |

You keep bringing the goalie thing up and I keep rebutting it but clearly you have reading comprehension of a trash can.
The DeAngelo thing sucks. The Habs drafted a guy who committed sexual assault and asked not to be drafted. (frank) off.

Only that they chose Andersen over Mrazek. Ned was never going to be the starter this season. |

Stats are like a bikini, what they show is quite enticing, but what they don't show is quite interesting as well.
You can use stats/bikini to highlight the best parts but there is alot more that can be covered up |

and in other news, kk, don't bullpoop me.
don't tell me it is hard to leave Mtl. it was your choice. you signed the offersheet. I don't blame you, I would have done the same, but don't bs me. we already have Molson and MB to do that.
goodbye and good luck - fidopro
Meh, I am sure there are parts of MTL, the MTL organization, and teammates he will miss.
First big adventure away from home...
Seems believable to me.

We'll never know, but I guess they really made a lowball offer.
Also, Wadell said the 20$ bonus thing was from their social media team. Since when are they involved in any contract talks? Don't mean to be rude, but that's a bit clownish if it's the case. I think it's Dundon's idea. |

The team runs personnel decisions through everybody, including marketing. Like a "how is this going to play out? How do we sell this to people?" thing.
It's part of why some key marketing people left the team after the DeAngelo signing. They didn't want any part of it. |

From a hockey perspective.
From an everything else perspective, nah.
Will say the slur he got suspended for was antisemitic, not strictly racist. Not that that makes it any better. |
