Yeah I was pretty surprised when the Bears cut Leno thinking your line was thin enough as it is...and Fields does tend to hold the ball - Takemedrunkimhome
well. leno was cut because he wasn't very good and they drafted teven jenkins for that spot but he is out after having back surgery. jason peters will be the starting LT.
i just don't think fields is quite ready and fields doesn't hold the ball nearly as long as mitchie and (frank)face cutler.

Last season AZ's 3 leading scorers at forward were wingers, but it was the centers being held back |

Potential Hall of Famer...but can he still move?
I like Fields, he's a gamer and a big play machine, I just get why they say he locks in on his first read and holds it too long...because he does. But he has the legs to move and the arm to attack every inch of the field so who knows? To me he's either special or awful, nowhere in between. Same as Lance in SF. |

honestly, strome would have been the better choice. he would have been cheaper to acquire. better point producer. cheaper cap hit and for only 1 seasons. so, if he sucks, move on from him.

KK would fight for a spot in the line up if he would stay as a C for the canes, but go on I guess
maybe he will take the next step, but right now, was he ready to be the 2C for the Habs? |

Canes won't extend trochek after this year. They paid a price to get his replacement, and they'll see how he develops this year going from time as 3C and T6 winger.
Rare to have a 21 yo player with so much experience fall into your lap |

that is the question about peters. he played a half and was okay. but he has been around so long. the pre-season is totally meaningless to him.
i though fields did a pretty good job of looking for his 2nd and 3rd options in pre-season. he wasn't throwing into triple coverage much.
locking in on your 1st option is pretty common for rookies. the game moves so much faster in the nfl. takes a bit to adjust and realize how much time you have |

I was pretty surprised the Panthers (even with Danold) and Broncos passed on Fields. The Broncos with Fields, if it worked, could make a run |

Bergie is desperate ... a first and second for an overpaid ($4.5 million/season) third line centre. - Jackie Daytona
Even worse.... The first-round selection will be the better of Montreal's own first-rounder and Carolina's first-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.

Both are top 10, I believe. Otherwise, it is not protected.
New Habs strategy: You cannot make a cluster(frank) pick in the top 10 if you trade the pick away....
EDIT: Story I was reading was updated to say either are top 10.... so not sure. Probably protected top 10, or MB needs to be fired. |

Would make the storm surge legendary tho.
Also, maybe the Habs can get a 5th round pick out of it.
