I thought Adams was wrong to let him go, though.
How can 32 GM's be so wrong? - Powerslave
He chose *checks notes* Cody Eakin for multiple years over him
Yes he was wrong. |

Pfft. You didn't "check your notes". Cody Eakin is the first thing you think of every morning. |

zero. You take a bad contract(s) that have 1 and 2 years of term left.
You dont retain anything on Eichel. Period. - Mentalorgasm5

I mean, it’s super funny to defend all of the moves of a GM who finished in last place but hey, you do it well |

And it's another to obsessively bury ONE move that a GM makes but you are the king. I bow to thee. |

I didn’t make the stupid “ErrI tHouGht adAMs maDE a mIstAke” comment bringing an old conversation to light, but you’ll be here complaining when someone else does, as usual |

Don't comment on it, then. Pretty simple. You choose to be miserable about it. I don't. You choose to obsess over things (Myers, ROR, Eakin). I don't. |

IF he's traded...
He could come back after surgery, be showcased, play a little bit here and then be traded. Or he could light things up, lead us to the playoffs, and live happily ever after here. - kritter65
You might end up accompanying Bezos on the next flight to space.
I'd put the chances of that happening the same as the bold above: Zero percent. |

The Hawks had a surplus of D and D prospects at the time. The Nylander name also has a lot of cachet - plus the draft pedigree - which I think helped the Sabres get the return they did. - Hank Balling
Good answer. Probably the best jbotts trade?
Just wondered if there was any bad effort or fortnite issues. |

That trade tree perfectly encapsulates the Botterill experience
4th round pick (meh)
For
Sheary (meh)

Erod (meh)

Kahun (meh) - Hank Balling
It will be interesting to see if Adams/Karmanos has the ability to add good NHL players via trade when the time comes. So far in two offseasons that has yet to happen |

Bad thing with Sheary is if he would have brought the same production here as in Pittsburgh in wouldn't have been a bad trade. |

It wasn't even a bad trade. Sheary is fine as a depth winger but the Sabres had too many of those kinds of guys without play driving centers for them |

I know some like to wait and see how things turn out before deciding if a signing or trade was good or not.
The two big players (Hall and Staal) the Sabres brought in last year were a cross between bad, terrible, and horrendous on the ice.
They helped 'lead' the team to a last place finish that has resulted in the team's best player in years demanding a trade, and a tear down again with the goal being another last place finish.
Talk about a horrendous first season as the GM. |

The current GM traded Sam Reinhart and Taylor Hall for a total of a late first, late 2nd and C goalie prospect. It’s some of the worst work a GM has ever done.
It’s not comforting knowing he’s leading rebuild 2.0 |

Bad year for a GM, it's been a bad decade for GM's in Sabreland. Especially when your trying to fix some of the mess from the former GM's. |

There are quite a few that support him, even to the point of absolving him of blame for the moves made last season.
I think that mentality is entirely based on hope and optimism, not competency at this point. |
