For one thing would be to get four years of service at his 4.6 mil cap hit instead of 3.
Secondly I believe he will be traded to some team this year. - VANTEL
Right. But they could trade him next summer when he has 7 team NTC that they designed the contract to possibly trade him then. Itβs totally possible they trade him this year, i doubt it if they are doing well though.

Are you talking Myers or Pearson?
Myers has handed in his 10 team list already this year and I would guess Arizona would be one of the teams
For the 2021-22 Peason can veto any trade so I don't believe Chych will be available if you wait for Pearson to waive

Unreal player, blows my mind arizona would sell is all. - neem55
Why not? Gives them better odds for Bedard in '23 where they'll be in a new building and probably in better shape financially and hockey-wise to capitalize on all the draft picks and capspace they'll have.

I just dont see how you sell on 23 year old core players and ever expect to be competitive. The forever rebuild makes zero sense to me. If the pkayer wants out or is a problem, ok sure. They are going to be a bottom feeder with or without Chychrun. Theres a reason Yzerman hung onto Hedman and Stamkos when he rebuilt the roster, certain players you just dont move at 23 imo. Hes maybe not going to be as good as Hedman, but hes going to be very good for another 6-7 years minimum.

I agree I think they are nuts also. I can see them wanting as many draft picks this year and the following so adding two more would be great but Chych's contract is insane.
I do think they are going hard at Bedard or the Russian but I also think they are going to bring home Matthews.
Chychrun is not on the trade block
Craig Morgan: (responding to a now deleted tweet) Confirm from sources that Arizona Coyotes defenseman Jakob Chychrun is not on the trade block.
It shouldnβt be a surprise that heβs not available as they want to build around him.

Yes. I think Kotkaniemi is unique though in that he clearly wanted out and the Habs didn't want to move him. - Load Management
Yeah, everybody keeps saying "Why not go after Petterson or Tkachuk instead?" and the answer is that even if you get Petey to sign an $11 million offer sheet, Vancouver is probably going to match it. They basically have to.
that's why the Aho one was so stupid. You don't target stars with offer sheets if you actually want them. You target young guys that you think still have the potential to be stars.
