I'd love to see the full quote because it sounds more like I had a chance to play with Gil Perreault

nah
stick to posting how battered women deserve what they get
you are literally off the mark on this one and as usual too stubborn to admit when you are wrong
yeah phil played center BEFORE the nhl but bert did not slide to wing so Phil could take the faceoff during their stint together

there was literally interviews out there when housley went in the hall where he mentioned his time as a rookie playing up front with gilbert - homiedclown
the cool part about this for me is that it throws me into research-mode...
went to the nhl scores archives for the '83-'84 season (housley's sophomore campaign) and used the box score as a guide...when there were seven d-man, i believe housley was up front...about 8 games in scotty made the move and housley played 15 of 16 up front...
he went back on d for 12 games i'm assuming due to injuries on the back end as we saw them go with 5 d-men (i think ruff was a possible sixth) for two games, then we saw the appearance of the immortal david fenyves for two of his 10 total games with the club...
after that it was eight of 11 with thrill up front before he went out for five consecutive games (am assuming due to injury)...
there were two more games up front around the all-star break and after that he only played one of 29 games as a forward...
total games at forward 26...
interesting to note that in the nords 3-game sweep of the sabres, thrill played two of them up front |

You know the racist is on the wrong end when he lies about the feminist who has helped female women get out of Afghanistan but does not deny he is a white supremacist racist but only lies about me. Why so defensive? |

solid post
phil did get extra shifts on the wing for many games he played D
many pp's phil would run it with the first unit, slide up to the wing for the second half while Virta ran it
I remember Bowman really wanting Phil to get 20 goals his rookie year so many extra shifts were given up front trying to hit that mark

Was it more common for players to be hybrid F/D back in the day like Ruff and Housley or was that just as rare as it is now? |

Why is it so hard to deny that you are a white supremacist/racist? You walk into this by lying about me and then I truthfully speak about you.
Just deny it like I deny the lies you spew about me when you get defensive. It isn't that hard.

go back to trying to justify battered women deserve what they get
many "vets" were on this site that night
I love how when people have lost they throw a racist card in despiration to try to win a lost argument

Ruff started out a D but became a full-time forward except maybe in a great while playing D. But he was a forward full time from what I remember not sure exactly when that started but pretty early in his career.

i really don't know about the rest of the league as i only followed the sabres closely but i believe it was rare...thrill was awful in his own zone...but man could he dazzle with the puck, henceforth the move up front...
ruff was a winger with strong defensive attributes and i'm pretty sure scotty used him on defense more than a few times...i also, for some reason, remember ruff at center as well |

Thanks.
I remember Ruff doing that with Paetsch. I also recall the Sabres considering Pominville at D against the Hurricanes in '06 which obviously didn't happen (but maybe it should have?) |

ramsay full time guy left only open spot for ruff up front
his work ethic allowed him to stay in lineup
d men year 2 was
boxy
schoenny
hajt
ramsey
dunn
playfair
went back to d and played up front as well when virta stunned the sabres and went overseas 86-87 |

Him or Hecht would have been better than half the d we suited up for that game. Still pisses me off. That was our cup that year. |
