It's entirely fair to say Dahlin hasn't lived up to his billing yet. He hasn't.
He's going into a season with a more favorable coaching situation for him so we'll see where that takes him - Hank Balling
Agree Hank. There's a leadership vacancy for the Sabres this year. too Everything is there for his taking. |

I get handwringing is what we do here, but it gets old when it's the same stupid topics, like "Reinhardt is a wussy and is mean to my daughter", or "Jack Eichel wears a skirt", or "We lost the ROR trade".

And then it resorts to name-calling.

No decision today, let's wait until they're all 25.
That's the only real answer, because all those guys I mentioned are likely HOFers. But you wouldn't know it by looking at their first two seasons, and I didn't even look at their ages, almost certainly Dahlin was the youngest.
I'm not saying Dahlin is the second coming of Bobby Orr, I'm just saying that defensemen take a long time to develop, it's not like a forward where you just say "hey, go score some goals". - Wetbandit1
They do have to make a decision today (essentially).

With the return Risto brought in, there is 0% risk of going long term with Dahlin.
We either look like geniuses and Dahlin is playing on a very team friendly deal by year 3 if not earlier, or we are trading him for multiple picks because someone will take him |

Makar is 1 year older then Dahlin
time to take the kid gloves off Dahlin - homiedclown
Dahlin is now the #1 D playing against the big boys. He did at the end of last year and looked good. I'd say they are off, especially when you consider there isn't anyone to shelter him.

He is the man now, with Power waiting in the background to try out 1LD if Dahlin is the green jacket winner again. I think Dahlin will look a lot better this year though |

Long term is almost no risk, bridge is the riskiest move.
The Sabres are gonna suck the next two years, maybe even three.
Does it really matter if we get him on a low cost bridge ? Nope.
But if he shoots the lights out of the place than he is making $12M a year when we could have given him 8-8.5M long term now then we are in a tougher spot when we’d actually be a probable playoff team 🤷🏻♂️ |

Bridge is very risky, ask Reinhart, well it wasn't risky FOR him, but you get what I'm saying. |

The one area of improvement Dahlin needs to make. Which should hopefully come with age and building man strength.

Really don't. Sam was classic bridge that looks great if they just sign him after it. Not many organizations could screw that one up. KA found a way.
