The one area of improvement Dahlin needs to make. Which should hopefully come with age and building man strength.

Dahlin has a number of positive things going on beneath the surface.
He has his faults no doubt, with Grannato’s coaching and physical maturity I still see a top pairing defender.
He might not live up to the generational mantra but Dahlin can be damn good and we have a chance to lock him up cheap due to Ralph forcing him to be something he is not.
Mackinnon and Draisatil’s contracts were eye brow raisers at one point in time as well but now they are two of the better value contracts in the entire league, with Mackinnon’s being the best no doubt. We have a chance to do that with Dahlin, that’s the way I see it |

Really don't. Sam was classic bridge that looks great if they just sign him after it. Not many organizations could screw that one up. KA found a way. - Lunaion
They jerked him around until he said "(frank) you".
What makes you think whoever's in charge after this hypothetical Dahlin bridge will be any more competent?
For me, it's a 1 year deal, or like 6+.
A bridge could work, but if it does it means he's not very good anyway. As an example of when bridge deals backfire see the Habs and Subban. They could've had him way cheaper if they just didn't (frank) around, then they had to massively overpay him. |

Not sure if it’s been posted here, but this is really good on Netflix. An ex-Sabre in there too.

The "Malice at the Palace" was a good one too.
I keep meaning to watch that one, and a couple of the others, just haven't gotten around to it. |

Bridge is almost no risk, and the most likely move. - Lunaion
To me, the only bridge deal that makes sense at all is a 2 year one.
A one year is virtually useless, and a 3 year posing a host of issues after that deal is up.
Question: How much per year do you think it would take to get Dahlin to sign for a 6 year term? |

Why is 1 year useless? If he "bounces back" then you feel way better about a long term deal, it starts getting more and more expensive the longer you sign him for, assuming of course that he ups his play. |

So the risk is organizational incompetence? And KA is the man to guard against that?

The risk is organizational incompetence plus increased cost. That's a double whammy I want no part of, but then, as soon as Eichel is traded for dogsh¡t I'm out anyway, so WTF do I care? |

Think we pretty much agree across the board here. 2 years is the team friendly bridge, and makes a lot of sense. Believe you said 6x6 was the EH projection, and the market has likely pushed that up a bit. So, I'd go 6x7m, give or take.

That's the difference here. If the increased cost is the result of on-ice play, I have no issue with it all. You can also sign him for a longer total amount of time, which is significant too. In Sam's case, seeing him sign at 6.5, I'm not even sure the cost increased.
Right now, we're talking about a guy whose on-ice play is worth maybe 4m, and paying him double that for 8 years.

Housely played a lot of center in that 31 goal year but Dahlin is nowhere near him right now in goal scoring from D either or rushing the puck. - GilPerreault11
How bout that, I never knew Housley played center. Been wanting Dahlin to play center for years. |

I’d post the D zone turnovers per 60 but a certain Flyers D man who’s top 5 in the league at turning it over might ruffle some feathers |

Gunnats..... Post surgery.
Skinner - Eichel - Oloffson
Asplund - Mitts - Thompson
Bjorn - Cousins - Roust / JJ Peterka
Girgensens - Eakin/Hayden - Okposo
Terrible D-Fence.
Here’s a different take that apparently us common folk don’t have privy too.
During Eichel’s post season interview the one comment that garnered my attention the most was that he stated, “you guys need something to talk about”
And.... talk they did. I’ve been following this the whole summer and other than Eichel saying that there was a disconnect between him and management regarding surgery, Eichel had been a proud Buffalo Sabre. Yet, here we are, the numbskulls leading the Buffalo Sabres media outlet have organized the masses and created a dialect that has simply driven a top ten nhl player at the age of 25 out of town. My perspective is that the sports media in Buffalo are a joke and a waste of radio-wave space.
Take Reinhart for example.... Had an awesome year despite the record but obviously despised not the Sabres organization or the fans but the media!! The truth his in his remarks when repeatedly asked moronic questions by the likes of Fat Hambone and his cronies.
