Man those Flames teams from the 80's were so good. For about ten years they had some epic battles with the Oilers. I swear if it wasn't for the Oilers those Flames teams from the 80's would've won two or three Cups. - LeftCoaster
Arguably that was maybe the best decade to watch hockey and those Flames/Oilers battles were unreal. Even being a Canucks they were so good to watch...probably will never see another era like especially watching Gretz at his peak.
Ya the advanced stats in hockey are pathetic and so are the people that peddle them in the media without ever considering context/ common sense - CanuckDon
That list is just categorized from Goals above down. The usage reflects TOI and clearly competition. More usage equals higher competition. Less usage and higher GAR means playing a lot less and against far worse competition.
It's not ranking skaters by any means, it's just predicting expected goals per player and showing their usage relative.
That is not how this data chart should be interpreted here, usage is also key to understanding GAR. The takeaway is Ryan is a great GAR player in a bottom 6 role. That doesn’t infer in a top6 role he would have the same GAR. Therefore comparison to players with way more usage is irrelevant.
Hello guys
