I thought when the other guy said " miss a couple of weeks" he meant regular season games. - 668710
That is exactly what I meant. I should have been more clear I suppose.

Yeah but TO has only ever had one 1st overall pick in their history and has only picked in the top 5 like 5 times in the past 30 years haha.
Of those 5 times you have Matthews, Marner and Rielly
EDIT: sorry, Wendel Clark was drafted 1st overall in 1985 - MattStrat
Let's not forget about Tavares. While TOR didn't draft him, it doesn't change the fact they picked him up smack dab in the middle of his prime years.

Yup. They've made so many blunders in the goalie department. - Rinosaur
They always went all-in on forwards, built a decent defense, and paid little attention to goaltending. That was usually their undoing.
Although, one more healthy top-6 defenseman probably would have won them the Cup in 2004. |

Would it be worth it for the Pens to take a chance on Logan Brown? Hasn't found his way yet but a lot of upside. Pettersson and a pick. |

They lost in 7 games, Game 7 was 2-1. Their defense was depleted that a concussed Sami Kapanen was playing exclusively as a defenseman.
Also, Crosby's reputation in Philly is largely based on his first game in Philly. Got smashed by Hatcher, complained to the ref to the extent that he got an unsportsmanlike, and then scored in OT. Put that together and you've got an instnant villain in Philly. That's why OV doesn't get the same hate despite him torching us almost as badly. |

Yeah, and Sid did earn his moniker his first season, but he quickly changed his attitude.

Yeah, even his teammate Recchi called him out, may have even used the term "baby" in Sid's rookie season. He's definitely matured a ton, but as they say, that's the problem with first impressions.
All that said, the "Cindy Crysby" stuff is just lame at this point.

Some would call it "dental surgery". I am guessing that if someone punched Giroux in the mouth and knocked out a few of his teeth and his mouth was full of blood and it was not called that 1) Giroux would complain a lot to the refs and 2) Flyers fans would be very upset, and would probably make obscene chants to the refs. If it happened in Pittsburgh I doubt Pens fans would cheer to the extent that Flyers fans did back then. I am guessing that a lot of them are the same Eagles fans who cheered when Irvin laid on the turf with a career-ending neck injury.
I guess I am just biased but I watched Crosby's entire rookie season and every season since and I did not think that Crosby complained excessively. All players complain to the refs at times and captains, being the spokesman of the team, are obligated to do it more. Of all the Pens players of the past 20 years the only one who I think went overboard in complaining was Letang, back in the 2014-5 time frame. |

It's times like this I'm glad we have a guy like Jared McCann who has proven he can step in as a 2C and even give them a lefty option for the PP.
Oh wait. |

To be fair, when the season started, we didn't have Carter, so one could argue we're starting in similar footing. That said, we could be in a much better position also having McCann.

Still doesn't make sense to me. Why not stack up as much skill as possible. We could have started this season one more player better. But no. |

On the surface it all looks like a poorly mishandled situation, but I think we have to concede we don't know all the ins and outs to this situation.
Still, looks bad.

Haha. I've said before, the time will come where Malkin might need to move to wing like many great centers have as they age and I'd love to see him and Sid play a year together. |

Disagree only because we knew Malkin was missing significant time to start the year and we were vulnerable to this scenario. This is a point I mentioned early in the off-season so not hindsight to me. |

Oh, yes, I'd be pissed and so would he. But I don't think he'd complain to the extent where he receives an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, especially when he's pegged (fairly on unfairly) as the future face of the league.
As for fans cheering injuries, listen to the crowd in Pittsburgh when Kasparitis concussed Lindros. They cheered like crazy seeing the opposition's superstar lying motionless of the ice, so spare me the Philly fan stereotype.
Again, some of his teammates early on in his career commented on his behavior. Even in 2012 and 2013, against Philly and Boston, he lost his cool and his team followed suit. But since then, he's definitely grown to become one of the best leaders in the game today, no doubt.
Yeah, can't stand Letang and his head snaps. |

Carter, when on his game, can go on a streak... he is one of the few who shoots >3/g... and when i remember correctly, our win% without both Sid&Geno in lineup is surprisingly ok... though it will be tested heavily starting in Florida. |
