My take on the Great 28 signing is Terry loves hos former all star and wanted to give him something a “little extra” for his time on the team. A generous tip that you would give someone in a Boca resort if you will. Because nothing else makes sense. - Da_Cashman
6 years combined for Tage and Gus. 2 years combined for Reinhart and Ullmark

maybe...he led the league in games played three seasons, including one with the sharks where in 72 games played he was in net for an nhl record 4412 mins...he finished 5th in the vezina vote that year behind dom, beezer, roy and cujo...his first year in carolina featured career bests in gaa (2.22), sv% (.923) and shutouts (6)...archie finished 8th in vezina voting that season
not bad for a 5'8" goalie who played five seasons for an expansion sharks team and six seasons for a recently located hurricanes club whom he led to the scf in 2002 - Michael Pachla
He was by no means terrible. If he was 6’ tall I bet he was a top goalie in the league a few years. He just never wowed me.

Adams was at a minimum complicit with the decisions made last offseason.
He decided to offer Reinhart a one year deal.
If he truly didn't see him as part of the long term team vision, he should've traded him last offseason instead of doing what he did.
I don't care about percentage of blame, but let's not pretend like Adams had nothing to do with how things ended up after last season and he's a first time GM this offseason. - kingcong39
The good -
2021 draft
Risto trade
No long term bad contracts (except Girgensons which isn’t horrible)
Firing RK
JJ Peterka
Will Butcher trade
The Bad
Taylor Hall trade
Sam Reinhart trade
Drafting Jack Quinn over who was still there (yes I’m saying it’s bad now, no I’m not wanting to see how it plays out)
Waiting forever to fire RK
Giving Reinhart a 1 year deal
Fumbling Linus Ullmark
Cody Eakin
Being unable to resolve the Eichel situation without it effecting his trade value
Not doing anything about the goalie tandem (specifically Hutton) going into 2020-21 which helped this last place finish and Eichel wanting out

I wonder how much say RK had in a lot of these bad decisions. It may not have been all KA. Still bad he didn’t speak up but RK is apparently a hell of a snake oil salesmen

Ralph's grand plan was to extend Hall after last season and trade Reinhart.

It really doesn't matter to me. KA's the one actually making the moves and signing the contracts. We paid a big price for him learning on the job.

well laid out...
if ullmark had been signed to a 4yr./$20m deal (or more as was reportedly his asking price to stay in buffalo,) would that have taken ullmark out of your bad column?...and, at that high of a contract, would you consider it a bad, long-term contract?

I would have been ok with it. It wouldn’t have been great but this team hasn’t had any goaltending in forever, so keeping a competent one would’ve been good
They held onto him instead of getting an asset and then couldn’t re-sign him. That’s a fumble

Per a source, “The agent for Eichel is trying to broker a deal that would send Eichel and Sabres D Robert Hagg to LA for 4 players, 3 of whom are expected to make a push to be in the Kings opening night roster (1 was for some of this past of last season). The other player is the Kings next first round pick.”
The source continued, “….this has been discussed in the summer but the Kings look like they would like to sweep in and finish this. They are comfortable with the current Eichel health issues.”
This REALLY puts the pressure on Vegas to finish a deal for Eichel, something the Knight’s owner has put a high priority on.
