At least you responded in a more reserved, rational manner. So kudos for that.
You’re trying establish your own narrative of what Mitch is worth.
He’s so much better than you realize, and he’s worth every penny of his contract. Every single team would put together a package that’s twice as good as the one you came up with. - Arctic_AARDVARK
The one thing that's pretty much universally agreed upon around here and in the hockey world in general, is that Marner is overpaid.
You're also the same gentleman who seems to think a max term deal for Rielly in the 9 mil range is a no brainer. So believe it or not, no matter how hard you slam them on the table, I don't consider your opinions to be fact just because they're yours.
But anyways, when you start going with your BS as with line one in your comment, it's time to hit the dusty trail as it's only downhill from there. Good luck with your gimmick, everyone that's not you have a great day. 👍 |

I don't agree with you there either.
A bottom tier team in the midst of a bit of a reset button would drool over having a player like Marner to build and market around.
It's not hard to pull off a deal of that magnitude money wise. You look at Anaheim, if they wanted to bundle Silverberg and Manson for example for Marner... The money isn't far off of like for like and picks and prospects which don't affect the cap make up the rest. - joel878
The money may be close...but the talent coming back isnt anywhere near Marner.
But I agree, Marner could easily be traded...but the team getting marner would win the trade as they would be getting the best player. |

It was asked for I bloody well guarantee it - Dozzer
Sorry Dozzer, Chelios loved it in Montreal and really wanted to stay at the time.
He never asked for a trade out of Montreal.

He signed a 8 year 8 million dollar deal to stay with the leafs. Leafs traded him. |

Didn’t read the last paragraph because it’s obviously a self-loathing whine fest.
It’s not “universally agreed” as you suggest.
I never said Rielly should get 9, I said 8x8 is more than fair and they have to do it because he’s clearly their #1D

I should emphasize before departing that again, that was purely the money aspect... And it was the first example I pulled from my head.
Because if they offered Silverberg and Manson, along with two first rounders and a blue chip prospect... Well its not so clear cut is it.
Bet everyone thought Philly won the Lindros trade right up until they didn't too, we got the best player when we traded for Kessel right. 🤷🏻♂️ |

Well I don't know what to tell you.
When the team tells you why they traded him, the player tells you he wished he could stay at the time, every single journalist tells the same story about it....
If you don't want to believe it, there's nothing more I can say.

I dont think its universally agreed upon in the hockey world in general.
Around here and with hockey fans....sure.
But I've heard hockey analyst each side of the marner contract discussion: He's paid what he should be, he's overpaid by 1m, he's overpaid by 2m.
Personally I wanted him to sign at 9.5 - 9.75.
Marner never sat out either, so it didnt lower his cap hit. Unlike willie who's contract is actually 7.5 per year, but because he sat out half a year - it averages to a 6.9 lower cap hit. But his contract is 7.5 per. |

What should they say?
He wants to be closer to home so we needed to trade him?
You know damn well we’d never hear that kind of truth in media |

You didn’t say that the first time.
Sure, two 1sts, Drysdale, Manson, and Silverberg is something Dubas would listen to.
But ANA wouldn’t do that. |

Well, we got the only player when we traded for Kessel, we moved out picks. So that cannot be compared as the leafs wont be trading marner (if they do) for a picks package, talent will be coming back. Unless they are in complete rebuild I would think |

Picks and prospects could mean anything.
It certainly doesn’t suggest two firsts, and Drysdale/Zegras.. |

Why dont you two just argue hockey and keep the insults out of it?
Just an idea, so the board doesnt delve into full insult post for a few pages. |

Serge Savard wrote in his autobiography that the reason he ultimately decided to trade Chelios was his off ice problems and a worrysome medical report avec his knee.
Pretty sure if there was any trade demands made, we would know about it at this point. There's be no need to "cover" anything up by now.
But you're free to believe what you want obviously.

Please reread and don't make it a "you two" thing, I stated immediately that as soon as he starts going with this BS it's checkout time and I'm going to do just that.
He's done nothing but try to incite since with the insult and taking things out of context.
Enjoy your day. 👍 |

I dont pick on AA, Ive joke around about his willie hate once in a while and whatever his "calm down" phase was.

There aren’t 31 better defensemen in the NHL.
He’s the Leafs #1D for sure.
Pretty much everyone’s Team Canada roster has him on the top pair.
