The Sens offering Tkachuk 8 x $8m makes me feel a bit better about the Kotkaniemi situation. Did the Sens learn contract negotiations from Dubas? - Takemedrunkimhome

thank god we drafted kk! |

Well I do like what Tkachuk brings as a whole.
But 8M per year for someone who never scored at a 60 points pace in a season is alot of money. - Scabeh
I liked Kotkaniemi...but not at $6.1m. I like Tkachuk but that contract would be ugly (at least at first) and sets a poopty precedent for that team and how they negotiate |

I mean, how much are they gonna give to their actual superstar (Stutzle) in 2 years?

They gotta pay more upfront to keep the long term aav down. It worked so well for them with Colin White |

i don't see what other choice Ottawa has. his numbers are very similar to Svechnikov's so it makes sense he would get a similar contract offer. as for going shorter term... Ottawa doesn't exactly have a great track record of hanging on to their stars when they near their huge payday.

cap hit usually drops as the years go up. and if he signs 6x6 next summer, i think we'll have been disappointed by his 21-22 season.

I must say, the beef shawarma was awesome, but I kinda prefer Amir's deadpoulet. |

The Canadiens rumoured interested in Alex Galchenyuk makes good sense. He was instrumental in eliminating the Leafs and had good chemistry with Caulfield and Suzuki. |
