No way you think he's better than Richardson?!?!
I am still awaiting for the inevitable PTO's to be announced....gotta be some more old re-treads the Flames are looking at bringing in....
Going back to what was being talked about before, I feel like the Flames owners are Jerry Jones lite. Business people meddling in hockey decisions. Sad part is we will never know. - The-O-G
I wish this weren't an actual possibility. |

I don't think you understand the point of Richardson. He's there to fill out roster requirements as a healthy scratch most nights and make next to nothing. He's also not a total scrub so he can be cycled in every now and then when someone needs a night off. You really think that's the best role for Pelletier? Or even playing six minutes a night on the fourth line? There's no room on the current roster for Pelletier, especially when you factor in that there's not really room for Dube already.
Maybe if he takes Dube's spot, he can make the team, but do you really see that happening? |

You don't think Pelletier can fill a spot on the third line with Backlund and another winger? |

No. He's another undersized winger and has played zero games against men. A month, half a year, year in the AHL is only going to make him better. He doesn't need to immediately need to be thrown in the deep end, especially on a Sutter team. Dube, Lucic, Lewis, Pitlick, and Ritchie are all better suited for that role.
The only way I see him making the team is if he's by far their best player for the entire training camp, and Coleman, Dube, and Mangiapane all look like bums. |

Not a bad thing to let Pelletier season in the AHL. After the way Bennett turned out that is not a bad thing. |

402 games of a 0.35 points-per-game player and 10 games of a 1.5 points-per-game player. Matches well with Hub, will be interesting where he settles ptg/g over full season.

Fresh starts do great things. Bennett did not jive with any of the Flames top players. I do not believe Bennett will keep it up but I hope he proves me wrong.

We have no obvious (high-level) prospects, but they seem to be high on Hallander. With Malkin&Letang -both mid 30- getting UFAs, this year will be our last dance with the closing window (which most likely was already closed with our 3rd '17). With new GM, i read plan is now saving draft picks, so we will see where it goes. Our last drafted player who made the roster regularly must have been Simon... you know what means.
Have a nice time buddy. |

Well good to see normal has returned for blog frequencies...
So... lets throw this out.
Where does this team finish in the Pacific? Do we make the playoffs?
Does any rookie have a realistic chance of making this team out of main camp?
Does Darth Vladar see more than 10 games this season? Does Wolf get a sniff this year?
Who leads the team in scoring?

Most predictions & pundits have Flames outside looking in finishing in around the 20-25th range over all but in typical Flames fashion, I bet they are better than many thought. Gaudreau will lead the team in scoring on that top line & Chucky will have a solid bounce back year because he's in a contract year. I peg him for 70 points. Monahan bounces back with 25 goals & about 50 points total. Headlines will refer to how heavy of a team the Flames have become to play against. I think we sneak in 3rd & probably would do better but our PK will be overused like our health system.
Darth will 20 games & play very well. Wolf will have some solid numbers in the AHL.
Of all the rookies, Peletier will get 50 games & popsicle will get some games as well.
You heard it here first.

I'd say 80% chance they make the playoffs. 35% chance they win the division. If Markstom has a better year than Lehner and Smith/Koskinen, they'll win it. 1% chance any rookies make the team. 99% chance Vladar plays 10+. 1% chance Wolf gets anything more than a start at the end of the year in a meaningless game. 90% chance Gaudreau leads the team.

Have they sent a search patrol out for John? Fuk now it's time to blog, there's actually sh!t to talk about.
Flames finish 3rd in the division
No rookie makes the team, it's Sutter
Vlader plays 18 games
Wolf zero
McJohnny leads the team in scoring and is traded at the deadline cause as$wipe can't get a contract signed. |

It’s on Yahoo. You get a point for each category win
Using goals / assists / points / pp points / hits / PIM / blocks
Goalie wins / sv% / GAA / shutouts
It’s not as complex as it sounds, just draft guys who put up points and aren’t soft as butter |

Man, Buffalo just cannot get a single thing to go right in this Eichel situation. Dude fails his physical and they publicly strip him of the captaincy. What about how you've handled things in the last 8 months makes you think that this
A) Helps the player
B) Helps your team
C) Helps you trade the guy
D) Helps you get him back in your lineup when you inevitably fail to get anything more than a Kylington offered back for the guy?
Amazed that Dahlin even signed his extension at this point. |

Anyone read the article on TSN about Gaudreau and a new contract. From what it sounds like he's either going to play out the season or be traded by the trade deadline. |

It was barely an article and didn't say or suggest anything. It's the stock answer from a player in this situation and there's nothing to read into.
He may want to sign in Calgary, he may even be willing to sign for a little less than market value, but he's also 28. Best case scenario is he's got 5-6 year as a top player. He's not going to sign now when they could be going into a 5 year rebuild after this season.
If they're a contending team this year, he probably resigns. If they're bad, it's better for both sides if he moves on.
The fact that the agent and Treliving are talking is all that matters, and that's good news. |

I had high hopes for John.
Hope he is ok.
A rookie will sneak in the lineup, it will be Pelletier. Flames will trade JG, Backs, Coronato, and a first for Eichel.
The Vets they brought in will send a message to the young guys, winning takes sacrifice. Sutter will not accept anything less. Which will recreate the identity of the team.
Tkachuk will have the most points as he is the setup man for Eichel.
Tkachuk-Eichel-Mange
Dube-Lindholm-Monahan
Luc-Coleman-Pelletier
Old-Smelly-Vet
Vlader will thrive and there will be a goalie controversy in Calgary.
Flames knock out the Oilers in the first round and the Oil decide to do a rebranding and change their name to the West Edmonton Maulers. Flames make semifinals, Tre keeps his job. |

Great trade, love the line combo although I'd switch Monny and Campstove. |
