Since 2016 the year after they drafted McJesus, the draft players have a combined 122 points.
For reference, in that time the drafted Canucks players have 283 points. - manvanfan
That's purely draft position related. Elias Pettersson & Quinn Hughes are responsible for 250 of those points, Hog (27) & Rathbone (3) the other 30.
The Oilers drafted 22nd in 2017 where they took Kailer Yammy (52) and then followed that with two defencemen who are still developing. |

Holland has done well adding Keith and Hyman. Will have huge impact especially Keith in the dressing room. They'll be a PO team for awhile and once they learn how to win in the PO's which should be soon. Look out.

Didn't they lose a bunch of guys this year on "D"? I'll have to go check who they've got.
Edit: yike....outside of Nurse, who's a heck of dman, they've assembled a bit of a motley crew back there |

Only disco like music I can listen to is stuff like Rolling Stones "Emotional Rescue" and KISS' "I Was Made For Loving You".
- boonerbuck
Been going through some of my Stones catalog in honour of Charlie Watts and I didn't even know my GF loves that tune Emotional Rescue. She's like...who is this I like it!! Forgot how great some of their albums actually are...Sticky Fingers is a gem all through.
Always liked KISS even though they are demonized a bit in the industry. 'Probably not a harder working band ever' said Geddy Lee. Destroyer remains an epic album of tracks that are actually remarkably well written. Some of their LP's remain off/on but there is sporadic excellent work over their catalog. Creatures of the Night remains one of their best albums. Check it if you have time. Heavier tracks.

I'm not sure if the Canucks are going to have a shot at Shane Wright or if they're going to be a bubble team, it'll be an interesting season to watch. As for the Oilers, time for them to get over the hump and win a playoff round. - LeftCoaster
It's playoffs or bust for Van I'm afraid. They have the ingredients now to make it so it's on the players.
Oilers will get there. 3/4 of this PO games vs the Jets were OT could have went either way. They just need some calming presence in the locker room back on D and that's where Keith comes in. 3 cups he will show them how it's done. |

That's what was said last year about the Canucks and Ottawa beat them for cryin out loud. If things don't go to plan this season Benning will surely be gone along with Travis Green. If Pettersson and Hughes miss part of camp they'll have a down year, like almost every other player who's missed camp in years past. That'll doom the team to another bottom ten finish. |

If the Canucks miss the playoffs, not only should Green and Benning be gone, but so should Elias and some of the “core.” If they can’t get in that would be truly pathetic and it would indicate our young players simply aren’t good enough. Start over |

It's always the same excuses from you. Come up with something new.
You're excuse has been debunked again and again. |

In all fairness they've had a significant roster turnover, for the better. They need to have a good camp and pre-season. Not having enough time to get used to each other or injuries won't fly this season. If OEL, Poolman, Shenn provide consistent D and stay healthy, they should have a chance at the post season.

On paper they're a better team than last season. Benning needs results this year.

It's truly a make or break year for Benning and Green, if they fail again, changes will obviously have to be made. |

IF Pettersson and Hughes sign for 8 million each the Canucks are going to be right up against the cap, or damn near it. Which presents some significant difficulties in the form of constant lineup juggling or running with less than a 23 man roster. Should be much easier now though with the farm team being in Abby.
Why would Benning deal with all the little fish before he takes care of the big money fish? He's franked if they don't get those two signed before the start of camp, or worse yet, the season. |

Part of it may be in response to Elias being a little female dog and saying he won’t commit. Benning assembled a good team. If they can’t win then Elias is part of the problem

With the 30 day shut down thingy and then the players whining about going back to work wasn't overly surprised. But agree if Petey and Hughes miss any of camp it could be an issue. If the Flames and Nucks both miss the PO's this season there could be sweeping changes. |
