Foerster hasn't regularly played center in two seasons. He's a winger. Ditto Wisdom.

thanks Bill, he is still listed as a center which is why I thought he was a center. I think that is good because it means he will get to the NHL faster since its much easier to play wing than center.

Flyers have no chance of being as bad as they were last year even if they brought the same team back. They will improve. The question is what is their goal. Making the playoffs and getting bounced in round 1 will they consider it a successful season? The every other playoff scenario. Its time to expect more and I dont see this team being able to produce that.

I don't think the goal of any Flyers team is to just make the playoffs, they want to go on a deep run and win the cup. Thus I think the goal of this team is to win the division, that is always the first step so you get the best matchups and home ice, which is paramount to making a deep run in the playoffs. I have said many times now, the goal is to get to the final 4, then anything can happen. If things work out right for this team, meaning they have good chemistry, players perform at or near their peak, and they stay healthy, I can see this team challenging for the Cup. I mean why not, they can be at least as solid as the Islanders and I think their ceiling is higher than the Islanders.

Here is a perfect example. Braun is 34 and slotted to play on the 3rd pair and on the PK. Possibly with Yandle. He's what 36? So you need role playing defenseman. If you can draft a player in the 2nd round as a defenseman that turns out to be as good as Nik Grossman. You've made a solid pick and filled a team need.

Exactly, look at the Bruins with Brandan Carlo as an example, dependable, solid defenseman that is signed long term at a reasonable price. That is what you want with picks outside of the first round, with the occasional Braydon Point thrown in :-)

It’s cute how Fletcher and more importantly Vigneault get to side step the blame from last season, in particular the stagnation and regression of youth.

They had plenty of LHD role playing dmen at the time, tho... both on the team and in the system.

Top-90 Draft picks are the only free crack a team really gets at coveted cost-controlled top-4 dmen, starting goalies and top-six forwards. Spending them on role-players when there's never a shortage of role-players available via trade/UFA always feels like a wasted opportunity. There are plenty of potential Ginnings later on in the draft.

Although I do remember that they really liked Ginning's intangibles and leadership qualities, so maybe that's what drove the decision.

Politely disagree..expecting a whole team to play near their peak and stay injury free just isnt going to happen. I cant see them winning the division and quite frankly gun to head I dont think they make the playoffs..IMO their ceiling is nowhere close to the Islanders. Caps..Canes and Isles are better then them so IMO it will be a battle for the 4th spot with Pens and Rangers...I see Flyers anywhere from 4th to 6th

I think Frost will be ready by late January, early Feb at which time I see him being called up and slotted into the 3rd line center role, barring injury of course. That means Brassard, Thompson, and Tanner L split 4th line center role based on health and match-ups. And as you noted, they can fall back on Bunnaman and Laughts if need be. I think the Flyers are in a good spot in this instance.

If the team is rolling and playing well and Brassard is playing well on the 3rd line, are you going to believe that they would make that change? My point is that they shouldn't be falling back on players that are or could be here long term and favoring short term older players.

I know that you know this but when drafting, you're doing it for the future. You need a balance between safer picks and reaches outside of the first round. Where is the plenty of LHD now in the system? No such thing as having too many prospects.

Norm was one of the best interviews hands down. I always enjoyed his comedy, but there was something about him sitting in the interview chair and the stream of consciousness that followed.

Patrice O’Neal was like that, too.

CF can't be any clearer that last year this team had a BIG void in leadership. Hopefully this year we will see a much more stable team that starts strong, plays 60 minutes and doesn't get flustered when breaks go against them.
