So we aren’t going to consider his performance overseas in the Austrian league and DEL while Quinn had like 20+ other teenagers out score him in the AHL ?

How many had hernias? I mean 9pts in 15g isn't great, but when you're walking wounded, it would seem that's pretty tough to hold against him. To each their own, but that doesn't factor for you at all?

He was playing with a hernia, no?
- Hank Balling

If you’re healthy enough to put the sweater on, you’ll be judged on that performance.

If it was that severe they would have shut him down earlier.

I wish ppg was more indicative of the future, but that is a good sign...especially given he started with 1 pt in 5 games, ended with an 8 in 10 stretch.

Jack had 18 points in 21 games.

That whole line had poor shooting luck that couldn’t have lasted an entire season.

When I played, I had a hernia and no skill to play the game of hockey... That didn't stop me from becoming the league MVP, in my head.

Also, this never happened.

Check out Pominville's production in his draft year and his draft plus one year.

Impressive, and it makes me wonder how he lasted to the 2nd round at pick 55.

Did he have the hernia in the world juniors where he was a ghost, yet older than most of the team?

The Sabres made an awful pick with Quinn.

Quinn also could be pretty good

Both can be true

The defense of everything the Harbor Center GM has done is mind boggling.

We finished last and are trying to finish last again

Being upset the org didn't take Rossi/Lundell ->Defending the Sabres for everything.

Interesting transition.

And for the record, not only have I not defended Kevyn, the purpose of the argument is 'this is what we have and to be presumptive about prospects is nothing short of fortune telling'

If I had all of the information the Sabres had and was in their scouting meetings and it were left up to me, I'm not sure who I'd end up picking. I know a lot of people were begging for Rossi. Ok. But it's so easy to cast doubt when the future isn't written, that getting so overly upset about Picking The Wrong Josh is a waste of breath.

I could be wrong, but I think it was you that said 'get your guy' when you're drafting. So based on scouting rankings, it was an awful pick. Cam Barker was the #1 rated North American skater in 2004. Jack Johnson was the #3 in 2005. Peter Mueller was drafted 8th where Claude Giroux was drafted 22nd in 2006. Kyle Turris was ranked above Pat Kane in 2007.

So saying "it was an awful pick" is as subjective as you can possibly get.

This is a hill I'm dying on. I don't know where Jack Quinn will be at 24. What I do know, though, and historically, no one actually knows how these guys will pan out. And that's the point.

I think you’re wrong.

Unless you’re on the Kim Pegula doctrine of believing they know more than everyone else, then yes it was a bad pick and not at all subjective.

I don’t feel we need to revisit how all over the board he was ranked by different people while the guys they passed on were unanimously ranked in the top 10, or In Rossi’s case ranked top 7 across the board.

Not to mention guys who profiled better than him in his draft year like Jarvis and Zary have made serious strides last year.

That's fine. Some will say he's poop simply because of his draft position, some will wait to see the results.
