“ Every offseason I read a speculation story about how this will be the season teams start handing out offer sheets like they were Halloween treats.

I always roll my eyes.”

You mean EKs posts every year?

Since you care so much...Tkachuk is cousins with a guy named Casey Fitzgerald who was drafted by Buffalo. They are also cousins with the Hayes family. Casey and I went to school at Boston College. He told me he was golfing with Brady and some friends today because it was his birthday. I said doesn't he have a deal to sign? Yeah they have a meeting on Friday and it should be done over the weekend. Happy now?

So, it's only hearsay-on-hearsay-on-hearsay? That's credible.

Tkachuk's mature playing weight will be over 230 lbs. He is 6'4" and has become a physical force. Very hard for any defensemen to contain him. He finishes every check with a huge thud.

Tkachuk is the kind of player that would help any team win in the playoffs. For soft teams (Rangers, Leafs) he would be a very substantial upgrade. But, is there any contending team able to add a $9.5m cap hit?

On the other hand, can a non contending team risk giving up multiple unprotected draft picks? Next two drafts are top heavy with elite talent.

So, would any team with sufficient cap space (Buffalo, Arizona, Columbus et. al.,) be crazy enough to take the risk of giving up a potential lottery pick?

Trade Tkachuk to the Leafs for Marner! Good solution! (for the Leafs, anyway)

A true power forward for a figure skater. But, Rangers have a sophomore that might be the basis for a fair deal.

Marner is $10.9m for another 4 years. But the Tavares deal is far more problematic.

I don't know the answer to this question but maybe somebody can help me out. How many teams in the league would have Brady as their number one LW and give him the kind of ice time he gets in Ottawa?

This thing goes two ways. In Ottawa Brady is king, surrounded by young, skilled and hungry players. Where else would that be true?

- Whatisavailable

Kings would be among them

Ottawa matches, then turn around and poach someone off the team that tried to offer sheet, we have the cap space to do it.

Tkachuk will never weigh 230 in the NHL come on, man. He’d be way overweight and too slow.
