This might be the worst one yet. Sabres are looking for young pieces. Not a guy that can walk into unrestricted free agency after one year. The only way this might make any sense if Johnny hockey goes to the Kings but all the young pieces Buffalo would want I think would be coming from La not Calgary |

Tell Treliving that there's an ex Oiler or Canuck in the deal for him and it's fait accompli |

Doesn’t Johnny Hockey have only one year left on his deal and is coming off a few mediocre seasons

From my understanding Gaudreau would like to stay in Calgary. BTW Ek you don’t have any sources, you are the epitome of BS. Write that down. |

I was trying to figure out a 3 team trade with Buf, Cal and LA and it was giving me a headache. Then I was thinking of a 4 team trade with Buf, Cal, LA and PHL and it was giving me a bigger headache.
So I'll just leave a trade idea when (E4) Buffalo gets Gaudreau.
Philly gets:
Gaudreau
Buffalo gets:
van Riemsdyk ($500,000 retained)
Cam York (flipped to LA or Calgary for a RHD)
1st round draft pick 2022
2nd round draft pick 2024
A lot for Philly to give up, but it is under the premise the rumors they were trying to dump 2 years of van Riemsdyk is true. They get a younger and better player in Gaudreau with a good bet that he will re-sign.

Here's a fact:
Gaudreau got married a couple weeks ago, his mother or aunt posted on twitter that the Flames staff were family and they hope to stay together for many more years
We're talking about a college hockey star, who could have easily chosen to become a ufa like NYR Adam Fox - but he didn't.
This rumor's total baloney folks. |

Gaudreau has said about 100 times that he wants to stay in Calgary. But if he can land Eichel then that's a good deal. Maybe add a pick since he's already a major piece. |

JG will be flipped at the trade deadline like all players before him on expiring deals for a first rounder and B prospect or straight up for a very good prospect. |

Not sure why anyone would take these so called rumors seriously. Over the years I'm following this site I think only one of these ever came to past. Not sure what sources he has but they are not too good! - Johnny Red
Which one? Genuinely curious as I believe Eklund's rumors have been more inaccurate than random. |

Why lose all those assets when he's a UFA in a year? There has been rumors that he wants to go to Philly anyway. Why doesn't Philly just wait a year and throw money at him as a UFA (which they're going to need to do anyway if they want him). I can see them offering up something to get a jump on the deal, but that's way to much; York is going to be a stud, let alone the picks. JVR had a good season last year (not many Flyers did). Although, I wouldn't mind shipping him off (plus minor pieces) for Johnny. Even though, it a rumor that he likes Philly, no guarantee that he signs... |

Philly seemed all in on making changes this summer. There was a rumor they were trying to get rid of Voracek and/or TVR (actually leaving both exposed for the expansion draft). They gave up a lot to change from Gostisbehere and Hagg to Risto and Ellis.
I think they would be just as interested to change from TVR to JG. Philly probably wouldn't give up Cam York (teams rarely give up good young prospects in trade), but I think the value is farely close.
I consider one year UFA rental would be a 1st, a 2nd, and a roster player. Then you would have to add in for 2 years of TVR salary that Philly is trying to dump. |

Now I would take the whole Johnny hockey article and throw it in the trash. If you wanted to make something up at least you could be a little more realistic. Like a three-way trade with Ottawa where they move Logan Brown or eat some salary to accommodate whoever gets Jack eichel |

No way they trade Cam York either. |

Oooo! Three-way action!
BUF gets Gaudreau + +
CGY gets B. Tkachuk
OTT gets Eichel
DON’T DO IT!
Wait…. BOTH Tkachuks end up in St. Louis. I’m not sure yet what Calgary is getting.
More to come…. |

Wait what about the Kings and Eichel you said it was a deal? |

Makes no sense to give up all those assets for a guy they can get for nothing(other than money) after this upcoming season.

you're not wrong, especially on York.
BUT
dumping JVR's cap is a plus and they just gave up a first for (frank)ing Risto |

Exactly. Not just a 1st..... 14th OA. Same draft spot Cam York was drafted at. It's destiny. |

Fair enough on York, but Philly swinging for the fences, especially with that Risto trade.
Can't just have Gaudreau next summer. You won't have the cap space, unless you are not re-signing Giroux. You could always get rid of JVR's contract though...... |
