Sutter is sick. Benning said he feels sluggish may miss camp. |

And just like that, Benning says 100% of team, front office and all canucks Stagg will 100% be vaccinated to start the year

What a Muppet - Codes1087
I just seen a comment from Sat Shah saying Benning convinced Travis Hamonic to get the shot. It doesn't matter anymore but maybe there was something behind the original story.

Maybe let’s just wait to see if everyone does indeed show up / is available before we start firing people… more than a few small lies have been told in the past. |

I don’t complain about Vancouver press ever but the bullsh!t that Jeff Patterson just pulled with Virtanen question pisses me off, the team did what most in here thought they should opened an investigation bought out the player and moved ahead. Also don’t know who asked Travis the question about Boeser’s future on the team being unsettled, but you could hear Green scoff at that point specifically. I am excited to see Podkolzin and Klimovich and I am thinking that a camp dark horse I’m
Intrigued by is Brady Keeper. |

Well, it's a fair question, with how many victims (or alleged victims) have come forward. You have to wonder why the Canucks didn't do anything until after the allegations became public. It's not like the team didn't have concerns with Virtanen's character until then (was suspended for showing up to training camp out of shape numerous times). He was well known to be a partier and there had been rumors about his 'playing around' with women even before he was drafted. |

Well, I think the Canucks did something about them only after they became public because no one knew about them beforehand? (Aside from Jake and the girl and if he/she told anyone.) I haven't heard anything about the team knowing. Maybe the team didn't do enough with the rumors (ie. investigate), but just as rumors there's not much to act on. |

Maybe, but you think in the age of #MeToo, they'd be a lot more proactive in making sure that their players aren't doing things that could harm the organization's reputation and standing in the community. Look what happened to Arizona and Montreal when they picked those players that bullied a special needs person and posted lewd photos of their ex online which is far less than what Virtanen was alleged to have done. |

I get what you are saying but is he on the team? Is he an employee of the organization? I just feel the value of that question when you were given multiple opportunities and forums to ask the question besides the first availability of training camp it cheap and chickensh!t reporting |

i just have issue with people/media/reporters citing "undisclosed sources" and sharing things to the public that aren't true. It does no good for the media to use their platform to insinuate or assume scenarios without proof and then get away with it when they are wrong by not naming said "sources". |

Virtanen was drafted in 2014, Me Too started around October 2017. So, I'm not trying to make anything seem okay, I just don't think the timelines of what you're saying/wanting from the Canucks add up.
As well, even in your own statement, what those two players did actually came to light/was factual before they were drafted. What Virtanen did wasn't even alleged, it was just rumors until this past year when they cut ties. I'm sure teams take those things a lot more seriously now than they did 10 years ago.
Not defending him or his actions. I think the Canucks did the right thing, just don't think they could have done anything sooner with the information that they had (unless they actually had more information than what we all know.) |

He was, and for quite some time, and the organization never addressed it nor did they ever release any details into their investigation. In fact, save for their statement they made when they indefinitely suspended Virtanen, they said nothing. |

Two things are possible. It could absolutely have been true and now it no longer is. Gaffar and Johnston are both well respected members of actual media, meaning they went to school and studied journalism, as opposed to a blogger who just likes hockey and finds a digital space to do their thing. They abide by a generally accept code of journalistic ethics and they wouldn’t be reporting something if they weren’t confident it was true. Things change, people change their mind, both things can be true.
Take a deep breath, it will be ok. |

This is what I am saying I don’t have an issue with how the team handles it at all but my issue is a “reporter” and that term is even a bit generous asking a question without a shred of value and it’s a Jacky thing to do for the first media availability of the year |
