Made some as well as gyros and a greek salad for a couples diner last week. Used the spice mixes I brought back from Greece, man that was good. - BashCH
Greek oregano is the best oregano. |

No dill! Tzatziki should be yogurt (strained), cucumber (shredded, excess moisture squeezed out), garlic, lemon juice, salt. That's it. 😡 - Darksyde
I like adding Dill Salt. |

Really? I always assumed dill was a standard ingredient but you are literally the person I'd have asked if somebody else said this so I'm happy to accept a lack of dill - Takemedrunkimhome
Yup... Learned from Geek ladies growing up in VSL. Good tzatziki should also be thick, almost like a cream cheese. It's easy to make if you take the time. I always strain the Greek yogurt through cheesecloth overnight, and after shredding the cucumber, squeeze out excess moisture in a clean dish towel. The amount of garlic you use is to your taste... Use roasted garlic if you prefer a milder, sweeter flavour. |

Great thing about cooking is that it's to your taste. There's no real failure if you think it tastes good. Just like when I think of souvlaki, unlike a lot of people, I prefer lamb or pork, chicken is the last resort. |
