Ross Johnston just needs a fight to get his Gordie Howe hat trick. The guy can do it all. |

I didn't say I liked him as a GM. Just as a commentator in between periods. |

I think he's the 4LW if Martin isn't ready to go by the start of the season. He's a real wiener
I thought Raty did some little things well, he seemed real good along the wall and on the forecheck
I liked Salo a lot too |

Barry seems happy with Holmstrom as well. Holmstrom, Raty, Salo, Bolduc should give the Islanders some fine options. Wonder if Salo and Bolduc take over next year for Greene and Chara? |

I'm really interested to see how Bolduc does this year in a "real" AHL season. He had a really great year last season but he only played two teams If he has another strong year then I'd agree with that.
For now, not knowing a ton about either player, I'd say Salo has a slight edge having already played a few pro seasons against men in the SHL/Liiga |

I agree. Salo should be ahead of Bolduc at this point. Best thing is Isles win the Cup and Chara and Greene ride off into the sunset and Salo and Bolduc take over. |

Well that was an encouraging start to the preseason. |

I mean Salo has 1 pre season game to his resume and Bolduc none and you are dismissing Chara and Greene already? Let’s play some more games and see how the youngsters play against real NHL talent before we start rating them and sending the Vets out to pasture. |

I thought the Islanders played very well in their zone. The zone exits were really good with short quick passes that helped produced quick transition rushes the other way.
Thought Salo played well as did Raty.
I’m sure Trotz likes the fact it was a shutout.
I honestly think Chara under Trotz system will have a better year than he did last year. Just the Hybrid zone vs Man to Man played in the D zone will help. Not to mention the whole teams D first mentality. |

I'm talking about next year and not replacing Chara and Greene this year. Chara and Greene are not exactly spring chickens and Salo and Bolduc seem to be the future. |

They are the future maybe. Aho was the future a few years back and the fans were calling for him to play. It’s 3 years later and he’s still trying to crack the lineup. Some take longer than others and its only 1 preseason game. That said I think that Bolduc and Salo have a good chance to be NHLers. They both have good skills and are bigger in stature than Aho imho.
I think the Islanders with the new additions are a better team than last year and am hoping for another great run with a better outcome. Of course they need to stay healthy but if they do I think they can do it. I think they could have done it last year with a healthy Lee. |

Salo and Bolduc seem to be a higher level of prospect than Aho and they have the size edge. I'm expecting another great run this year and hopefully a trip to the finals. |
