I was wondering if you NYI fans can help me out. I'm in a fantasy hockey pool and selected Wahlstrom. Looking at the depth chart, it looks like he is a 3rd/4th liner (my bad!). Can you tell me more about the player, what I can expect, and if I should drop him for an upgrade on the waiver wire? Does he have the chance of moving up the lineup barring no injuries? I had to select him because I had no RW on my team yet. It was a purely positional need.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Trotz said a few days ago that the RW on the Barzal/Lee line would be either Palmieri or Wahlstrom, with Palmieri getting the spot out of camp since he's a veteran. Whoever isn't on that line, will play with Parise/Pageau on the 3rd line. Wahlstrom will undoubtedly get PP time as well, probably a fair amount of it with one of the two units.
Entirely possible he ends up on Barzal's line at some point during the season, but for now expect him to play with Parise/Pageau...which is no slouch of a line.
He scored at about a 22g pace over a full 82gm season last year, 12g in 44gp. He averaged about 12.5/min of TOI per game, which I imagine will go up this year in a more permanent role. Figure maybe around 15m per game...which will probably be affected by how many PP's the Isles get. He likely won't be a big assist guy. Wouldn't be surprised to see him post a stat line that looks something around 24g, 20a, 44pts. |

Ross is going to get his time this year and especially with Reaves running his mouth already. |

IMO Wahlstrom makes a little more sense on top line b/c Palmieri is great in front of net and top line has that already with Lee back. I think long run having Palms on 3rd line makes more sense.

Who comes out if all healthy? Unless somebody is really struggling I don't see them sitting. Having Chara also slightly lessens the need for Johnston I think. You don't want Chara fighting a lot but nobody really wants to fight him anyway lol I love the boss but I just don't see any spot for him. I would hate to see him claimed by another team if they try to send him down |

Maybe Ross goes in for Matt or Cal. They will need a break during the season anyway. I do not think Matt can take Reaves. Has to be Ross or Chara. |

Trotz says he's looking at Palmieri or Wahlstrom to play with Lee and Barzal. Palmieri gets first crack there. #Isles |

Wouldn't be surprised to see Wahlstrom come out, Parise slide to RW and Johnston dress at LW if they're actually concerned with Reavo. Or just scratch Parise if he's not playing well.
Not an endorsement of either move, but the only other way to squeeze Ross in would be to dress 5D and 13F |

Islanders should be in good shape with Palms or Wally on the 1st line. |

Whatever it takes to get him in the lineup, except for taking out Wally

I actually can't wait to watch the Rangers season opener against Washington. Willy is going to be hiding behind the net from Reaves all game
That sack of shat will probably try to fight Goodrow so he doesn't have to deal with Reaves |
