Good luck to LB. Ottawa had zero interest in giving him a decent shot and maybe he'll start to realize his potential in St Louis. Could be one heck of a move for them.

As for Ottawa the addition of ZS makes Tkachuk expendable. Now all they need is a number one D. Maybe Dorion can dangle Tkachuk for Coburn and fix that hole in the lineup? I think he probably can squeeze a third round pick out of whomever on the condition Tkachuk doesn't play thirty games for them. PD is a sly fox he is!

(frank) brown and (frank) his dad giving dorion a headache I'm glad it's over. Dorion wanted to make this move before season started. He doesn't need anymore distraction. Wouldn't even care to place him on waivers.

What dorion missed out on was sami Niku. MTL picked him up off waivers cause they got burnt by mete being grabbed by sens.

I really hope this means PD is seeing something from Sokolov at RW in camp or Nick Paul at C. Because Sandford doesn't play at either of those positions, the same positions PD still needs and has been looking for all summer.

Was hoping Logan Brown was going to be involved in a bigger deal, perhaps Hertl or Eichel. I don't mind Sandford. Definitely at DJ kinda player. Which I'm starting to get sick of saying and hearing.

It's hard to see this as a positive - it's just a wasted pick in the end...
Hopefully his seeing what his market value is will wake him up. He has time to turn his career around.

I know it’s not saying much but didn’t brown score 4 goals on one game against the leafs?

1) What they said - We’re going to spend money
What they did - lowered payroll (Dadonov)

2) What they said - We’re targeting a top 6, NHL ready C and/or RW
What they did - brought in a 4th line LW

3) What they said - We’re targeting a top 4 defenceman
What they did - Brought in TWO bottom pairing LD (Del Zotto, Holden)

4) What they said - We’re gonna give the kids chances
What they did - Brought in more “character guys” (Ennis, Sanford)

If they screw up the Tkachuk contract, I’m moving to Winnipeg. So sick of their lies and incompetence.

Unfortunately, while it is good news to shed a fringe talent like Brown, it is baffling Dorion assisted the Blues with this deal.

With Brown destined for Utica, the Blues save $2 million in cap space and acquire a mid round pick. Meanwhile, the Sens collect an over-priced, unwanted fourth liner. How many fringe players can one team dress?

It is baffling to understand why Dorion is willing to assist the St. Louis organization. Considering the Tkachuk family has let the entire hockey community know Brady and Matthew intend to sign with the Blues within 5 years, one would think Dorion would be unwilling to help the Blues now.

I mentioned this in the other thread but you are going to look pretty stupid if BT signs a bridge or a long term deal. Posing as a pundit comes with a little bit of risk to the old credibility.

A DJ type of player a hard working grunt.

Whatever... Dorion had to include an insurance conditional draft pick if Brown doesn't even manage to play 30GP this year. So that's what the rest of the NHL thinks of Logan Brown, and his wonderful vision. To be honest, I'll be surprised if he actually does play 30GP, because if he thought the competition in Ottawa was difficult, he's now behind O'Reilly, Schenn, and Thomas on a team with playoff aspirations.

From an asset management position, Brown should have been gone long ago... but at least they didn't lose him to waivers. Given the bad history, there's addition by subtraction in terms of removing Brown from the environment, plus Sanford is a serviceable 3rd/4th line winger. Personally, I'll only consider this a bad trade if Brown ever actually passes Sanford in terms of GP, G, and Pts in the NHL, and right now he's down 209-30, 38-1, and 74-9 in each of those categories.

It will be interesting to see if the Blues wind up putting him on waivers.

By all accounts, Logan Brown didn't even show up to training camp looking for a spot on the roster. Good luck in St Louis LB.

Sanford may only be a 3rd-4th liner but at least he is big, gritty and can score the odd goal. I would rather than than a kid that didn't even come into camp ready to go. Sanford has a 1 x $2M deal. For a team under the cap that isn't a big commitment.

It’s pretty sad that we’re now happy with just not losing a guy for nothing. This team needs to take a step forward, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.

Ottawa management does not think Brown is a good fit. Why would it be so surprising that other teams don't see much value in him either?

So Ottawa does not like him. Others don't like him...yet we believe team should overpay to get him. Does not make any sense.

What's sad is how badly he was misjudged as a prospect at the draft in 2016... especially if it affected the Senators' willingness to draft more C in the years since. Otherwise, this is just the final act of a multi-year drama with this guy. There was no real opportunity here to take a step forward, so much as just moving on. And if I'm the Blues, I strongly consider making a quick trade with the Coyotes to flip Brown for another mid-round pick. He's going to be seriously hard-pressed to crack the Blues' NHL roster (his only real hope would be at LW), and will be no more likely to clear waivers in STL.

Totally, probably didn't see Brown jumping ahead of anyone in the top 9 so instead forcing him to play out of his element as a 4th liner or losing him for nothing, why not bolster the 4th line with a solid experienced vet. Seems like a decent re-allocation of skillset for the forward group.

Zachary Sanford played with Colin White in college. I can see them playing together. Why does this team have such a hard on for Amercian players? Can someone tell me that? I get that P.Kane, D.Brown, Oshie, all won cups but only 1 U.S. skater won the Conn Smyth trophy. I'm not a huge fan of acquiring all these USA players. Call me whatever but look at the past 10 cup winning teams; all top players are Canadian, Sweedish, or Russian.

Anyways, I think the following lines make sense:

Brady Tkachuk - Josh Norris - Drake Batherson
Tim Stutzle - Chris Tierney - Connor Brown
Zachary Sanford - Nick Paul - Colin White
Alex Formenton - Kole Sherwood/Shane Pinto - Austin Watson

I noticed this a couple years ago actually. Dorion and his squad are obsessed with Americans in the collegiate system/USNTDP. That’s why I wasn’t too shocked when they took Boucher. And Sanderson. And Tkachuk.

Really? No top players from the USA on the last 10 Cup winners? Just off the top: Kane, Quick, Kessel. John Carlson and Dustin Brown were top tier scorers as well. C’mon man.

Sanford is a dime a dozen player who would have been a healthy scratch with everyone healthy, costing the Blues 2m a year. While most teams have to pay other teams for help when they have cap problems, the Blues got bailed out of their cap problem and Ottawa paid them a 4th round pick for the privilege. I'm honestly a little shocked Sens fans are happy with this deal. Blues fans would have been thrilled to have someone claim him on waivers.

All that said, he does seem like a good kid, and hopefully he can turn his career around with the new location.

Always great to hear a fans perspective from the other team that Ottawa makes a trade with. Great stuff!!

Looking forward to the regular season and getting Brady signed to a reasonable deal for both sides.
