Blues win, they have a good prospect for a guy that has been in their doghouse and cap space. |

There is a conditional pick but it is for the Blues if Brown does not play 30 nhl games. |

He’s not a good prospect, just a lazy ass with an NHL pedigree body. Big guy who doesn’t check and is soft on coverage. Good passer but will not do any work himself to recover the puck or transition out of the zone and his shot is OK. Always injured and never fully recovers. Good luck to him but he is a really hard player to like and/or cheer for even if you see the potential. OK centre if you can figure out how to get him to care, and he will be a good whipping boy candidate for you if things go south this season. |

Not sure who wins this trade in the long term, but I personally see Sanford providing more for their team the next couple years year at least.
Also provides depth on the left side with Brady out for awhile. |

Blues make room for Klostin and get a prospect, and possibly a pick if the prospect is awful. |

Logan Brown is 23 and hasn’t shown, EVER, that he’s anything more than an injury prone AHL player. He was arguably the worst player on the ice during the scrimmage this morning. In 5 years with the Sens org he hasn’t shown that he’s anything but a massive bust. What the hell were you expecting PD to get for him, a 1st rd pick and a prospect?
I was expecting to lose him to waivers for nothing…..the fact that Dorian managed to get a solid bottom six player for him is nothing short of miraculous. |

So this trade was a priority?
What about Tkachuck ? |

1. It is actually possible for people to do more than one thing at a time……a GM can work on a trade and negotiate a RFA deal at the same time.
2. It was a priority. There was about 0% chance he was making the NHL roster and he wasn’t waiver exempt. so, if they didn’t trade him they would have lost him for nothing on waivers. |

Neither player possesses a skill set suitable for full-time NHL duty. This deal is a fringe player for fringe player.
St Louis benefits from the deal. With Brown destined for the Comets, the Blues achieve $2 million in cap savings and acquire a mid-round prospect.
The Sens on the other hand lose $2 million in cap space, while surrendering a mid-round pick. All they acquire is another unwanted fourth liner. How many fringe forwards does Dorion plan to dress this season? |

Tkachuk will only sign a 4 or 5 year deal so he and his brother can play together in their prime. The Sens are only offering 2,3 and 8 year deals as they can retain Tkachuk's services longer.
Its an impasse, and I suspect Dorion will accede once the fans pressure him to get a deal done. This is what the Tkachuks are banking on. |

The Sens are not even at the cap floor. One year of $2M doesn't mean jack to the Sens.

You know, when one puts themselves out there as a pundit, they certainly need to be correct or what credibility that person owned exits faster than the Leafs in the playoffs.

The Blues are in the last stages of living off the fumes a Stanley Cup win. They are too old. They are a cap nightmare. They lack the talent depth to be serious contenders. They might hang in the periphery and grab a last playoff position this year, but they are not going anywhere.
More realistic, they have some pieces that might be attractive at the deadline. Armstrong just signed a 5 year deal. It is the right number for Armstrong to begin a full rebuild. |

No reason to be bhurt over the trade. The blues are not to old. Let's put the facts out here. As of last year there are 6 teams that are older than blues who have an average age of 27.5. So this year adding perunovich 20, kostin 22, possibly neighbors 18. That is going to bring the age of team down. Also toronto Tampa Vegas and Washington are all older. Soooo how bout them apples |

Average age is such a basic view. A more insightful approach is to consider age based on role. Having a 20 year old 4th line forward brings down the average, but if the guy gets 9 minutes a night while a bunch of 30-something guys log big minutes then your team average is meaningless. Toronto might seem old, but most of the guys in key roles are younger. But having part time forwards like Thornton, Spezza, etc...raised the average. I like apple pie. Thx. |
