Strome continues to be a complete afterthought in the training camp lines: he's with Cam Morrison and Brett Connolly today.

Toews centering Reichel and Hagel will be a fascinating line to watch.

- Chunk

Are the Hawks going to rush Reichel, like they rushed Dach and Bovquist?

Not surprised. Borgstrom has a similar skillset and if a better skater. Strome isn't going to get ice time before Toews, Dach, or Johnson. Hawks have better options at wing too.

I like Hagel on that line. He can go retrieve pucks so Toews doesn't have too. Not sure how Reichel is on the forecheck but a high IQ 200 ft skater should thrive with Toews.

Dcat and Kane with Dach or Johnson to start the year? Kane might put up numbers like he did with Panarin on his wing.

I don't think Dach was rushed. He did not look out of place or overwhelmed. Staying in JRs another year would've done nothing for his development.

Bovqist absolutely rushed. Wasn't physically ready for the NHL.

Reichel has been playing against men. So I think the question is how well can he transition to NHL ice?

I hope for his sake he starts the season in the Rock, just so he can adjust to the smaller ice size. The timing will be the thing he needs to learn and understand. There is no reason why he should start the season in Chicago and get limited minutes. I think he may be ready physically, but the smaller ice just is something he will need to deal with.

The Hawks have a lot of NHL level forward talent. If Reichel makes it, he will have proven that he is at least that good. If Reichel makes it, I don't think it will be because he was rushed.

Colliton says not to read too much into the lines yet.

"The first day of training camp, everyone looks at the lines and [says], 'Whoa,' right? 'Let’s get the concrete out.'"

Says there will likely be a "big difference" b/w the combos now, on opening night & at season's end.

Colliton on who stood out in the scrimmage:

"The McCabe-Jones pair were really solid. You could see that they’re going to be able to figure a lot of stuff out. Physical in D-zone, getting stops and breaking out clean. Kirby [Dach] was active."

Colliton on Reichel: "We’re just trying to expose him to different things. He’s a smart kid. Very, very good hockey sense and his speed is a big factor."

Mentions Reichel beating his man inside for an OT chance today as something he was "excited to see."

Kubalik on reuniting with Toews:

"Right away the first practice, the chemistry clicked back. It's nice when you play the puck somewhere you don't even know if there's going to be somebody, and he's there. You know where he's going to be and he probably knows where I am."

I sure hope they don’t. Let him learn any deficiencies in his game without the pressure of being in the NHL.

Dach was not ready for the NHL and he most certainly could have benefited form another season in Junior. He came into the draft as a player who was a strong playmaker and passer, decent defensively but it was considered he had work to do as a finisher. Junior also gave him an opportunity to work on his leadership and to be the dominant player on his team. Not to mention a potential opportunity to play in the world junior tournament in 2020.

I would like to see Strome and Connolly get plenty of ice time with good line mates in the first two exhibition games. One, to see if they are worth keeping (extremely doubtful). Two, to let other teams see that they are healthy and to raise their trade value (any return without having to retain salary).

So much media hype regarding Boqvist assisted in rushing him. Should have spent some additional time marinating at another level. Wish him well. Still think Joker will be an average defender in the NHL. I'd still prefer developing him, as opposed to viewing Nylander's peripheral and no contact play as a winger. No lightning in a bottle there, I'm afraid.

Just curious if any other NHL camps have a surplus of players who might interest the Hawks? Or a player who is falling out of favor or a disappointing camp that might become available for a trade? Might not really would want them?

Any teams on the hunt for one of the Hawks spare parts?

Pitts comes to mind with their center depth being depleted with Crosby and Malkin slated to miss the start of the season. Might be looking for some more help at center?

Ottawa LW depth while Tkachuk remains unsigned?
Vancouver C depth while Pettersson remains unsigned? Plus Sutter and Motte being also unavailable.

Seattle with Yanni Gourde still recovering might be pressed for another NHL forward?
Montreal has some reported injuries M Hoffman and P. Byron that could be out for a while, they might be looking for additional forward depth?

Columbus has N. Gerber and M. Domi out with injuries, again possible could be looking at an additional player?

Teams may opt to look within their own organization and see if that player has what it takes to be a regular NHL player or may look else where, maybe even at a few of the Hawks players?

Any thoughts?

The Hawks have to do something here. They simply have too many forwards and not enough guys (from what I can tell) that they can just send down. Not to mention the fact that there are guys they have that they aren't really enamored with (Strome, Connolly, maybe Carpenter). As the injuries stack up, I wouldn't be shocked to see a couple moves.

Side note: I keep seeing a lot of people penciling in C. Jones in the starting 6 on D. From what we've seen so far, I wouldn't put any money on that. Kalynuk has done quite well for himself thus far, and I think Stillman is ahead of him as well. We'll see how it all shakes out.

Already a Prima donna.

After reportedly requesting a trade from Saskatoon, #Blackhawks prospect Colton Dach has been traded to the Kelowna Rockets.

Why he played very well in the hockey bubble when the season resumed and did not look overwhelmed his rookie year.

Has his development been hurt by coming to the NHL early? He also injured his wrist playing at world juniors in 2021 so there is that tidbit too. I believe he was team captain for Canada as well so guess his leadership skills are pretty ok.

NHL skills coaches can help him with finishing. I think Kane has a pretty good skills guy he uses.......

Kalynuk is waiver exempt so he probably will be sent down to start

He played well in one series in the bubble, no one on the Hawks played well against Vegas as they were overwhelmed. The bubble was aptly named, special circumstances, does not translate to an NHL regular season or playoffs.

I was thinking more along the lines of ESPN, ESPN+, TNT et al getting the broadcast contract.
- 35Tony0

NBCSC will broadcast 69 games. The rest will be on the other channels/apps

He's played well in more than just the bubble. Yes, he has struggled at times (like any rookie), but I don't see much in his game that screams that he should have stayed in Junior for another year.

Not sure if you have a smartTV but there is a bundle of Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+ for 15 months a month.

The ESPN+ app should give you access to the other 13 games. Well, at least those not on TNT/TBS national broadcast.

ESPN+ alone is 7 bucks a month.

Or you can just stream the games that are exclusive to ESPN+. The rest regular ESPN will do

Being out of market, what will be available just through Hulu?
