Mariners won, jumped over the Jays
huge opportunity blown

not looking good

- senstroll

Yup, those early season blown leads by the bullpen have come back to bite them, thats about 4 - 5 wins they could have had and they needed to sweep the twins.
Season is done. But they did great considering they had no real home until recently, moved around to 3 different "homes" throughout the season. They had to deal with a lot and they were still in a playoff race until the final week of the season. So thats good

Of course next year, they wont have Semien.....or maybe Vlad performing at an MVP pace.

Ah well.

Being genuine, Marner has always hussled back and tried to catch a guy, Nylander floats off to the bench 8/10 times. JMO
- Garnie

Exactly, he's gotten better at this for sure (maybe 7/10), as it used to be 10/10 times his first couple of years.

But, hey, no player is perfect. At least he's getting better. Good to have both Willie and Marner on the team.

For now.

Semien is unlikely to sign....as the Jays may ensure they sign Ray instead.
Im hoping both resign...but unlikely. We'll see.
Back to back MVP caliber seasons could happen, but if he's is even better next season?
Wow.

I cant even bring myself to watch the Leafs, I have to get my crushing disappointment somewhere.

They also had a pretty pooptu starting rotation for a while that put too much pressure on the relievers

A little pressure but the relievers were really bad, cost 4 -5 wins for sure...could be more.
Either way, fun end to the season and they are mathematically still in it.

Kerfoot is a pretty capable player.. And it looks like Bunting can handle himself just fine.

If Ehlers can get time on the third line, and he’s obviously a better all around player than Nylander, then Willy can get some third line starts.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

It's from yesterday, but I'm seeing this now. Ehlers is not a third line winger on Winnipeg. He might skate there from time-to-time to inject some offensive into the line, but he is a top-6 forward.

5v5 Ice Time for Winnipeg forwards:

Scheifele - 16:21
Connor - 14:29
Wheeler - 14:17
Ehlers - 14:10
Stastny - 13:31
Copp - 13:16
Dubois - 12:55

I haven’t seen much difference from then til now. Advanced stats for D are tough I would think. Give aways - take aways are subjective…if you let up and let the other guy get the puck 1st it’s pretty hard to give it away and a lot easier to be given credit for a take away. I like Nylander but wouldn’t want him out there in the last few minutes trying to finish it off…he’s always a the furthest guy from our net. Just my take, I don’t want to trade him, Unless we take a time machine back and Calgary wants him for Doogie.
- Garnie

This is how I feel. It's about knowing what you have. Laine, Malkin, Patrick Kane, Rantanen, Panarin, Aho, Kucherov, Gaudreau, Barzal . . . the list goes on and on . . . there are a number of players on all teams who have the purpose of driving the offensive play but who are not strong on the defensive side of the game. You ask them to be positionally sound, but the expectation that they are grinding in corners or nailing the other team's players when the opportunity arises is simply not there - except in Leafland.

I appreciate Nylander for what he is. He's a play driving winger who can skate, pass and shoot better than average. He knows his strengths and he uses them. I think he also knows his weaknesses and he tries to avoid letting them be exploited. I don't like how he plays defensively, but he has been getting better.

The same thing, above, could be said about Marner except that I do like having him positioned high on the PK because he's an offensive minded weapon that makes teams afraid to pass cross-seam with him in the area. Otherwise Marner is not that good at defense either. But I appreciate what he brings all the same.

I think you also said this before the jays went on their big winning streak as well.

5 games left. Win atleast 4 and they have a decent chance of making it.

You’re an awful liar

- Arctic_AARDVARK

Well for starters, there was a TSN article posted here like a week ago referring to him as a two way forward, and everyone was busting a gut over how your brain would explode about it because you're such a jackass.

For someone who so often has the most absurd takes, you really need to mock others less.

Watch this year when the puck leaves the other teams end where Nylander is and where Marner is and where they end up. You’ll be surprised I think. I don’t mind Willie but I think he’s overrated by many and underrated by some.

Hopefully he scores 50 and doesn’t pick the puck out of his own net just as much to shut me up.

Nope. Never said that.
Im always, "lots of time left" for the Jays. As baseball is weird and streaky
I dont see the jays catching the yanks.....still could get Boston.

What can it help? I’ve seen almost every game for the last 10 years.

Not sure I’m going to see much uplifting.

I ducking sauntered around in my underwear for a full day with a sick stomach after the 4-1 debacle against the Bruins. 🥺

30 goals this season?

- 21peter

Without a doubt. He could hit 40.
