Oh...you thought I was being serious.
sorry.

If it wasn’t Garner, it must be Marner. Anyway, Sox have lost 4 in a row.

Yup, those early season blown leads by the bullpen have come back to bite them, thats about 4 - 5 wins they could have had and they needed to sweep the twins.
Season is done. But they did great considering they had no real home until recently, moved around to 3 different "homes" throughout the season. They had to deal with a lot and they were still in a playoff race until the final week of the season. So thats good

Of course next year, they wont have Semien.....or maybe Vlad performing at an MVP pace.

Ah well.

- Fakepartofme

Bullpen leaked out many wins this year. Hitters last night showed very little discipline at the plate. Expect it from Bo, he swings at everything (with good success) Vladdy watched at least 4 softies float over the heart of the plate and swung at garbage. Lourdes had a three pitch at bat with a man in scoring position where not a single pitch was within 3 feet of the plate. Semien and Hernandez looked terrible at the plate, and the Jays were facing the Yankees worst starter that was out after two innings. MVP ........ "SH" MVP, the Yanks big boppers came through when it was important, Jays batters didn't show up.

I don't come to the Leafs thread to be reminded of how much the Red Sox are currently sucking ass. God CC!

A couple of days away.
plus some footage has been leaked.

the shot in the teaser trailer where Dubas says he's running out of patience is apparently not in the series. It was cut. I think it was because it was in reference to him waiting on Uber Eats.

Pretty much. I had a feeling that Richards was going to give Stanton a beachball for a 3 run homer (he was coming apart)....but I wasnt expecting Stanton to knock it out of park on a pitch that was out of the zone and at his shoestrings. That was crazy.

It's from yesterday, but I'm seeing this now. Ehlers is not a third line winger on Winnipeg. He might skate there from time-to-time to inject some offensive into the line, but he is a top-6 forward.

5v5 Ice Time for Winnipeg forwards:

Scheifele - 16:21
Connor - 14:29
Wheeler - 14:17
Ehlers - 14:10
Stastny - 13:31
Copp - 13:16
Dubois - 12:55

- Monkeypunk

With all due respect to Schiefflellele, Ehlers may be the best offensive player on WPG.

Those ice times were simply to give core players a little bit of a work out while distributing some talent throughout the lines for the benefit of fringe players.

Kerfoot is a pretty capable player.. And it looks like Bunting can handle himself just fine.

If Ehlers can get time on the third line, and he’s obviously a better all around player than Nylander, then Willy can get some third line starts.

Well regardless of what it will show as far as team results.

I think it's going to be very good, showing lots of behind the scene stuff.

I like that.

Ya should be interesting.
Its only 5 episodes, so the story arc will be narrow. 1st episode will be intro, history of leafs, 2 -3 episode of the season mixed in with some off hours team bonding, 5 episode - the choke with Campbell crying.
Apparently Morgan isnt in the episodes much.

In the finals of my pool... Opponent has Ray, Vlad and Bo. $500 first place.

I'm off the (frank)in bandwagon.

I really like this Jays team, the bullpen can be repaired. That said the loss last night was very discouraging. 3 (frank)en hits against really mediocre pitching. I expected Judge and Stanton to hit and do well. Was expecting much more from the Jays hitters.

This is how I feel. It's about knowing what you have. Laine, Malkin, Patrick Kane, Rantanen, Panarin, Aho, Kucherov, Gaudreau, Barzal . . . the list goes on and on . . . there are a number of players on all teams who have the purpose of driving the offensive play but who are not strong on the defensive side of the game. You ask them to be positionally sound, but the expectation that they are grinding in corners or nailing the other team's players when the opportunity arises is simply not there - except in Leafland.

I appreciate Nylander for what he is. He's a play driving winger who can skate, pass and shoot better than average. He knows his strengths and he uses them. I think he also knows his weaknesses and he tries to avoid letting them be exploited. I don't like how he plays defensively, but he has been getting better.

The same thing, above, could be said about Marner except that I do like having him positioned high on the PK because he's an offensive minded weapon that makes teams afraid to pass cross-seam with him in the area. Otherwise Marner is not that good at defense either. But I appreciate what he brings all the same.

- Monkeypunk

He's not good on the 24th best penalty kill.

Ya the Jays hitters took a night off, some bad at bats for sure.
Hopefully that means they go to town tonight

Watch this year when the puck leaves the other teams end where Nylander is and where Marner is and where they end up. You’ll be surprised I think. I don’t mind Willie but I think he’s overrated by many and underrated by some.

Hopefully he scores 50 and doesn’t pick the puck out of his own net just as much to shut me up.

- Garnie

Oh, I'm aware! I just mean that in terms of general effectiveness, Marner expends a lot of energy in the defensive zone at 5v5 accomplishing little. I don't feel he flushes the puck, wins battles or forces the play. Often times he's out of position as the right winger because he's chasing the play when he should be supporting his defensemen on the wall (that said it could be Keefe's D-zone system). I'm not saying Willy is much better, but I don't mistake his defensive inaction of not caring - it's what you're supposed to do when you're the supporting winger on the wall to enable a breakout.

For the record, when I commented that Willy was getting better, last year - especially later in the year - he was getting back in the D-zone in a timely fashion when he was the high forward. He was applying appropriate backchecking and even retrieving pucks. Again, because he has always done it so infrequently or so poorly, it's more noticeable when he DOES it. He'll need to do it consistently in order to change opinions.
