Vegas is only because I play poker and I sublet an apartment there 3 months out of a year during the WSOP season. Portland I like because I like how laid back it is, more than Seattle or Vancouver and it's a good place to stay while I head out on the wine tour.
New York is nice if you want to be able to do something 24/7, Miami is nice for the beaches, and LA is fun if you want to see famous people.
Other than that, yeah, most US places suck. - DariusKnight
That’s why I like Scottsdale so much. It has everything Vegas has plus lakes, hiking golf etc. Portland and Seattle have been ruined by crime and homelessness |

I hear a lot of people say Denver is a place they'd live in the US. - boonerbuck
I hear that. Haven’t visited. I think it’s a pretty good place to invest in real estate. You can buy rental apartment buildings for cheap that cash flow well |

Interesting, I find Portland pretty gross. Vegas is a giant carnival not somewhere I’d live. Seattle is ok. Half of my family lives there so grew up spending lots of time there. I like San Diego and Scottsdale. Obviously LA has some nice areas and New York. Most of the east coast is pretty bad - CanuckDon
Meh, New York or bust for living. I am not a fan of the US as an entity... New York provides pretty much anything you could ever want in a huge culturally diverse metropolis, except maybe a savings account, and some peace and quiet.
Though, like most of the US, the infrastructure is failing there too and it won't be long before climate change is just a constant battle for the city. |

So has most major cities in North America, not just in the US... I wouldn't go alone in the downtown eastside of Vancouver at night for example. Scottsdale I find is almost like a parody of a Canadian city where there's mostly expatriates and Americans trying to imitate them. |

Not sure I love the idea of signing Chiasson... - NewYorkNuck
I’ve a few times the PP & PK will be the biggest factors on success. The roster can finally put out a PP1 & PP2 that’ll be huge. The PK’s I still don’t know the whom yet. |

I could see leagues honouring covid opt outs for contracts signed previously, but honouring them for a contract signed in the past couple of months seems ridiculous. If you don't want to play, don't sign a contract? - golfingsince
Yup or at least state your personal agenda so maybe not put the Canucks on hold etc. |

"Dreger thinks Quinn Hughes is willing to take $6M+ AAV on a bridge. #canucks"
-----------------------------------------------
This would be good news....6X3 perhaps? Canucks might be offering less? - LeftCoaster
I figured it would come to that. Idk but JB might want say 3/5.5m. If it were I it’s that or 8/6-6.5m. Hughes would better be served to bridge & earn the big one later given last season. |

6X3 would be good. The Petey goes 8X9?

9 million for eight years for Pettersson would be sweet music!! Hughes at 6 million for three years would be ideal....poor Vantel would get a massive woody and probably pass out from blood loss - LeftCoaster

dahlin's deal set the market. anywhere around that would be a good deal. i see where codes is coming from with wanting to go long with QH but i agree with the majority here that a bridge is a good play.
a caveat though is that, unless i'm mistaken, this would make him arbitration eligible at the end of the deal so he could go arbitration at the end of the contract and go into UFA. counter point though is that if he elects arbitration, the club could ask for a 2 year deal, which would effectively lock QH for 5 years.
i'd be on board with that even with the risk of arbitration. i still think the holdup is the EP deal and this QH's has been agreed on generally. - RealityChecker

I look at Pettersson in the Brayden Point mold for the Canucks, he might not ever win an Art Ross but he's really important to the club if the want to win. He's a near PPG player, he's never been a minus player as he's good defensively, he had 18 points in 17 playoffs games his first look at the playoffs...the kid is the real deal and he was a steal at #5 in the draft.
Brayden Point just signed for 9.5 million, I think anything along those lines on an eight year deal are completely fair. I'm not sure what Benning is offering though? - LeftCoaster
Point is also my best comparable. |

This is also Brayden Points third contract . He had a bridge deal worth 6.75 mil . Exactly what I think Petey is worth today. - VANTEL
Yes but TB was in a stanley cup push situation with other key players getting paid. For us we are working towards that so these 2 deals will be foundational lol |

Strictly speaking in regards to Pettersson, not Quinn Hughes, if you're a very important piece to our organizational puzzle I'm going to hedge my bets that you're going to continue to get even better and pay you long term right now. That's just my personal opinion and what I'd do. - LeftCoaster
Hard to argue against that at all. 👍 |

I always laugh about the common mentality of the ticket buyers when it reaches some huge prize. When it's 70 million, hordes are running to the store to buy tickets... but when it's only 8 million, people don't want to waste a couple of bucks on it... and the pool of potential winners is far greater with the huge jackpots so a multi way split is more likely.

Not sure what I'd do with 70 million? I'd actually be able to afford season tickets again.
Agree they should cap it at 20 mill and hand out more prizes. - K-man25
I’d buy me an AHL team. Put it in Victoria for my Buzzard buddies livin on the Island. Come to my booth & get loaded & puffin💨💨 |
