With that being said, I don't think these two players are cut from the same cloth as brock and Bo. - boonerbuck
I saw them play as hard as anyone else during that playoff run, last season was questionable for sure. Same could be said for a few players though, I think the whole covid-protocols thing really threw off the locker room comradery. |

I honestly hope they trade these little (frank)s. They both sucked balls last year and want home run contracts? Trade these female doges to Buffalo. Want to be on a winning team? (frank) off to Buffalo you little female doges - CanuckDon

Both players sucked last year. They should sign one year deals at a low cap and prove something. Or shut the (frank) up and sign a reasonable bridge and get to work. They don’t deserve long term deals. |

What’s hilarious is Elias thinking he is worth $8MM on a bridge. |

For comparison, Andrei Svechnikov signed an 8 year 7.75 AAV contract extension. Petey has more points (13) in less games (50) playing with way less talented players on a way poopter team.
whats even more hilarious is the anger and hysteria revolving around 2 core players, who may not be worth what they are holding out for, but are definitely worth a bigger percentage of cap than what has historically been given out to fringe NHLers, bottom 6 forwards and bottom pairing defenders.
These kids watched as LE sat in the box for 6 million a year, Beagle made 3 million a year playing 10 minutes. Sutter being paid 4.25 million playing bottom 6 and PK. Myers and Edler making big money while not producing near to the same extent as Hughes.
And people are mad that these kids want to be making a fair wage when comparable to not only the canucks contracts in the benning era, but what is being given out around the league in the last 6 months.
everyone just needs to relax. |

I don't know how you can compare a 8 year to a bridge deal?

i dont know why everyone is talking about a bridge deal. Is that what is being speculated in here or online? I haven't heard anything about it. I am just using a comparable player who just signed an extension with his team.
These things take time. Good players get paid. |

100%
Hockey is still being played. These players will still be locks to make the team when they do sign. Holdouts happen every year with higher profile players. Everything will be fine. |

So, what you're saying is that it's Bennings fault. |

Frank Seravalli on SN960: "Not suggesting that he doesn't want to be in Calgary, but my understanding is Johnny Gaudreau wants to be paid and wants to be paid quite well for his services". |

I mean you just quoted someone who said 8 per on a bridge deal and then said "for comparison".
I've been saying the same thing though. We don't know and I use the BS Rick D peddled for Brock as an example of how things get turned around.

not at all.
The market is absolutely bonkers with the Jones/Svech/Kiprizov/Hyman signings. The only ones that have made sense to me in the last 6 months is Beauliveir, Yamomoto and Robert Thomas.
I am just not surprised its taking so long given what the market value for players who produce points is set to right now.

well even if it isn't a bridge deal, we know what the market comparable is for a long term with Petterson (Svechnikov). I also do not understand why anyone would want to bridge deal a superstar in pettersson either. You want to lock those players up long term ASAP. If its 8x8 for pettersson I do it any day of the week over any bridge deal.
For Hughes, we know (to a lesser extent) what the market comparable is in Makar and Parakyo for long term, and what short term is with the Dahlin signing.
I honestly dont listen to what is being speculated in the media because in the end its all fluff. The agents and Benning are working on it daily, as what is being reported by the Canucks, so I have faith it will get done.
Again, regardless of whether its long term or bridge, it will get done and these players will play |

How is Sevchnikov’s 8 year contract a comparable for Elias’s bridge? I don’t follow. A fair wage, LMFAO |

again, I dont understand why everyone is talking bridge contracts with both/either players. I dont follow what is being said online, so if thats the case, than thats my fault for not being in the know. I personally wouldn't want to bridge either player, as I think they are both cornerstone players of the franchise. You dont have to agree and thats fine. I am more so commenting on the general outcry and anger over something that happens every year and generally with higher profile players. Holdouts happen.

If I recall correctly, Benning has gone on record saying that they've discussed both short and long term deals |
