It wasn't the dollar amount that was wrong, it was term. People (including me) expected around 6 on a 3 year deal based on Dahlin. Had someone said it would be a 6 year deal, my/our expectations on AAV would have been adjusted just like they would be on a max term deal. So, I'm more surprised that it wasn't a bridge (also based on Dahlin) not the dollar amount which isn't all that bad.

The bonus is attached to year two of the contract. If they suspend him for the first year of the contract it has no bearing on the signing bonus, if they toll it forward one year and the two years remain the bonus will be paid out in year two or three years from now.
