Sounds AAV for Pettersson will be under $8 million on a three-year deal.
_--------------------------------------------------------------------
may be 7.75 each - VANTEL
Petey is worth more but just get it done. |

This seems decent for both parties. QH seems a little high on AAV. - canucksfan1944
I think so too but wont complain they added term. You can never make everyone happy but if its true it fits in the budget. |

Does 6 years take QH to FA or RFA? |

Expect Pettersson 3x8Mish
Hughes 6x 7Mish |

This will take Pettersson to age 25 and still a RFA where they can extend him to age 33 . Yes you will pay more. |

Free agency I believe, but I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer. |

I hope Benning knows lol - hoping to RFA, UFA in 6 years is scary IMO

Great deals by Benning - Nucker101
Wish pettersson wasn't a bridge deal, but other than that, the AAVs are fair for both sides imo |

He’s played three years technically already as I believe the five games in 2018/19 burned a year off his eligibility? Anyone? |

1. I’m fairly certain Carol covered this in the blog.
2. If it’s a 6 year deal he will be a UFA when it expires - and as Vantel noted, they would have bought 1 UFA year.
They can negotiate a new contract with 1 year remaining, right after free agency opens I believe. |

He's a UFA at the end of the contract
EP has his last year left of RFA once his deal expires |

He finished his three year entry contract . RFA lasts 7 years . He has 4 more years of RFA and signed for 6 so they bought 2 years.

If Pettersson kills it the next few years it’s gonna cost the Canucks dearly in the long run. If he doesn’t, then no issues. |

7 years or age 27, so it depends a bit when you sign your ELC.
Edit - also, I think the first year burned didn’t count towards UFA status. Technically at the end of the fourth year he would still have been an RFA. So you were right the first time, they bought 1 UFA year. At least I think so. |

Boston’s arena is packed tonight, full house. Bruins are also icing their expected lineup for the regular season. |
