Im not worried about getting under the cap with those guys. Im also holding out hope that Couturier's contract helps to keep Zib's numbers a bit more grounded.

The problem comes in with where do we go at center if we let Strome go? Do we move up a young center that many feel is out of place up to play with Panarin?

If we trade for a center, we surely will have a much tighter budget to move forward with.

That's where Chytill/Barron come into the picture. Really need one of these 2 to be legit.

Yea it's why I said it comes down to opinion. Eichel's long term future doesn't worry me like it does others

Does your opinion change if he's forced to get the fusion procedure?

Talking with the neurosurgeon's I work with, the fusion procedure is more stable long-term. The disc replacement surgery hasnt been around long and does fail requiring people to go get the fusion anyway.

Im a big believer in Barron, Ive gone and said I think he can grow into a Jordan Staal type of player. However, I dont think he is ready to jump in and be our 2C. Chytil may have played all this time in the NHL but he hasnt shown me that he deserves to be a 2C, he barely deserves to be a 3C.

But it sounds like a fusion can limit mobility and set the recipient up for a potential debilitating life after their careers end. Have many NHL players had the fusion procedure?

Youre clearly new here if youre looking for my thought's on Chytil.

Sorry I should have been quoting the guy that you responded to originally

I am agreeing with you that Chytil doesnt have what it takes and the only defense is "well we shouldnt give up on a 21 year old"

It really depends on how much of a fusion he needs, a single level fusion shouldnt really effect his mobility much. If he needs 3 or 4 disc's fused, then sure mobility can be an issue.

As far as life after hockey. The sport itself is debilitating. They get fusions because theyve already destroyed their backs.

Ha, ok, gotchya.

Im not sure he doesnt have what it takes, I think he could have success as a LW, but as a center the experiment needs to be closed.

As others mentioned earlier he never sticks out during games

I feel like he doesnt have that explosiveness that you see from even guys like Barron who are trying to make this team. Kinda get the feel like he just expects to walk on this team

You know, talking now about how the center position will work out moving forward. Maybe he knows the Rangers dont have much of a choice because of a tight budget and feels he's a shoe-in for the 2C position considering how much time the team has already invested in him.

Honestly ---- I don't understand all of the hate here for Chytil.

He is young and has shown growth in the past 3 seasons, despite the past 2 COVID affected years.

He gets VERY LITTLE time on special teams, so all of his stats are basically 5 vs 5. Last season despite breaking his wrist, he put up almost half a point per game, got better defensively and became a plus player for the first time. His numbers are all trending UP.

I believe he will continue to develop and improve --- especially at the face off dot. Some players need time to develop before they put it all together. I think Chytil is primed to have a break out year --- just give him a chance!

I think Chytil like most European players are better with the puck than without it. If that’s the case, does he make anyone he plays with better? I’m not seeing it.

Malkin out 2 months, Guentzel on COVID list. We need to avoid the slow starts we've had in the past and get some distance from them early

New Coach, new system, young players trying to earn their ice? It sucks to say but I see the Rangers getting off to a slower start than we like
