On a completely different topic, it was revealed yesterday that Nolan Patrick was given non-prescribed Ambien and Benzodiazepines to help with his traumatic head injury by the Flyers’ training staff without disclosing the medication given.
so they gave him some pills without telling him what they were and he just took them, no questions asked..? |

the drug dealers at those events usually tell you what kind of pills they are selling, he should've gotten them there instead

I mean, it's his team. He probably trusted them, I don't think he's an idiot for it.

sure, but when you're talking about medication, don't you want to at least know what you're being given, and why? unless they literally put crushed pills into his protein shakes I don't understand how he could take them without knowing at all what they are

it's even more of an awesome deal when compared to what Danault got lol... not saying Evans is as good, but still.
missed the game last night, so Poehling looked a bit better? I think despite not having a very good training camp they're gonna give him a try at center to start the season, for lack of better/safer options.

The trainers and team doctors are trusted by the players... If given a bottle and told to take 2x/day or whatever to feel better, I doubt they'd argue. Players are more worried about failing drug tests... They know the team won't risk it, so they don't question it. |

I also love the deal. And it's low risk and tradeable should the concussion issue require us trading him to Arizona, because they'll take all the LTIR contracts. |

but that's kinda my point, of course players trust their own team's medical staff, but if he was given a bottle then surely he saw what the pills are and therefore the info wasn't kept "undisclosed" from him... unless they scratched the markings on the pills and handed them to him in a ziplock bag lol |

well, you can't really compare the 2.
as for Poehling, they don't really have a better option. |

well they're both centers, and are both considered as shutdown guys, so it isn't apples and oranges either...

An 18-19 year old kid probably does not think these things and assumes the team is out for his best interest to get him back to health and on the ice.
Dumb, but understandable.

yeah as I said I'm not questioning the level of trust between the player and staff, just that I find it very odd that 1- the team gives medication to a guy without saying what it is (must be an awkward moment, like "hey man, here are these pills, they have a name but we just don't feel like telling you what it is, so we'll just call them pills...") and 2- the player never saw the bottle from which those pills came from, or what was written on the pills themselves. anyway, doesn't make sense to me |
