People get to caught up in line numbers. If they play Miller at C then clearly the top 9 will all get pretty significant minutes and leave the 4th line with the scraps which is pretty common these days.
Linemates and roles are more important than listing Miller or Horvat as “2C”
What we know is that Horvat likes Pearson, Green likes using Bo against top lines and Richardinson was brought in for his defensive ability - Nucker101
The Narrative from the Canucks(JB), many fans and media when Dikcinson was brought in was JD's shut down game was going to free up Bo to concentrate more on offense and not take the tough assignments each game. Now we are talking about Green liking Bo's shut down role...keeping last years line together, so same strategy across the board more or less as last season?

Thank you
- VANTEL
Very good observations on Podz, he is very responsible defensively and he is going to help stop a lot of shifts where the opposing team has a cycle going and he is good on the wall so he will get the Canucks possession because he is so smart and also very strong physically. I feel like he can grow into a good top 6 winger in time but starting on the 3rd line playing tough matchups would be good for him.

Just say it... you are talking about Miller centering the 3rd line. Stop dancing round.
I just acknowledged a few posts ago that Miller might be centering the lotto line full time...
Here's what you said....
Now you rewrite both our posts.

I personally don't see Miller being a C once Petey gets back into the practice rotation. Miller isn't a natural center and after the disaster of a season he had last year, we need him to be a winger and maybe occasional faceoff taker instead. |

I suspect that Green will test both options. JD’s faceoff ability is a concern |

Nah I still think he is exactly as I advertised. You guys are usually wrong about most things so I will just throw this onto the pile

Excuses - VANTEL
Excuses are for losers
We had em where we wanted em, then Sutter called the challenge and pfffft it was gone. Great to see Conner take notice of Tanev's check, he'll think twice before he try's that move again. |

But some hints of this did come of of the Canucks organization so the speculation is fair. I just see it as a giant waste having him C the 3rd line and bumping JD down to the 4rth line... why the (frank) bring in these players using premium trade assets and cap hits and then do this? They signed JD for this role... they brought in Miller for the top 6 and he's been instrumental to Petey's success and protection... just seems like poop to me.... but lets have a look with one of the two last preseason games I guess.

The problem, if you wanna call it that, is that he appears to be another top ten pick, to go along with Virtanen & Juolevi, that will be just another serviceable NHL player.
You’ve gotta make all that losing worth your while. Now, that being said, it’s way early in this kids career. Patience is the key with him, but like Juolevi that runs out at some point and you’ve just gotta accept you made a shitty pick.
I was never a fan of the pick, I compared him to Leo Karmo00rov, spelling, but he’s obviously a talented kid and I know shit from shineola about prospects. To be fair! - LeftCoaster

As is Petey's. That's why he is sheltered by Miller in the circle.... and one of the reasons Miller needs to stay on that line. |

Imagine complaining about Chris Tanev out of all players. If he’s this much of a baby then I think he’s gonna cry and want out of Edmonton unless they make noise this year. |

Guy drives hard to the net every game, just using his speed. He's got to realize that some d are more physical than others and he's going to get knocked down once in a while. Don't like it then learn to pick your spots. |

Yup. What he needs to realize is he's the one making the dangerous play. Tanev was just defending against it. He can cry and whine all he wants, that part of the ice has always been physically contested. |

Or learn to be like Crosby or Ovechkin and fight back, no D is just going to stand there and do nothing while someone is driving the net with the puck. At the very least they're going to tie you up or try and take away the puck and yes even knock you down. You want them to stop doing that? Maybe take a shot at a D when he's trying to knock you down with a slash or a bit of a cross check, do that enough they'll be more hesitant to do so.
Well, maybe it won't stop them since you're trying to take out the goalie in the crease, but still better than whining at least. |
