The part that everyone needs to realize is that he's played 3 preseason games.... that's it lol.
What are we basing our opinions of him on? Lack of goals? Lack of awareness? Lack of production?
Hes been defensively in position from what I have seen, physical, and made good passes and made some good chances for him and his line mates. I think he should be on the 3rd line based on his performance, which for me has been good considering its a new system, language, country, line mates, etc.
Also, horvat played 5 games in Utica. No goals, no points. Podkolzin has played 2 or 3 pre season games and everyone has an opinion lol. The kid will be fine and I'm sure the coaching staff will do best by him to allow him to succeed in the NHL. - Codes1087
100.
Well said. |

I'm seeing the same thing. He's always first back and back checking like crazy. He's always looking to pass first in the offensive zone, which probably stems from a lack of confidence but that will come. He's been physical. I think he's been great. - Codes1087
Thank you

He got penciled into the top 6 last year when his competition was Vesey Loui Highmore and Roussel.
Since Canucks got Garland we see a lot more penciling in at bottom 6. I think anyone expecting a twenty goal scorer really missed the mark. He is a defensive shut down guy that wins puck battles and will get you the puck.
I seen Carols stat of minus four in three games. I watched the last goal against when he got zinged for a minus . Focht loses face off goes back to the point , the other teams winger ties up Lockwood from getting to the point to block shot while Pods is out wide of the circle to block the other point in case the puck went back there. Not even his assignment which he would have had to skate across the ice shoots from the point and DiPietro lets in a soft goal.
I seen a play where the two D men were in the corner battling and he was in front of our own net covering . Where was the center that was suppose to be in front? I have no idea but Pods was playing a defend first game instead of waiting at the point for a break out pass.
I suggest fans start watching what he does defensively first instead of looking to see how many goals he scores. Any one noticing the shot count against has improved? - VANTEL
Fair enough. Patience is a new feeling around here. With the success of other top 10 picks it’s hard not to expect instant success. |

I've never been the one expecting him to dazzle with goals. I call him a meat and potatoes type player. Don't need to suggest it to me...
He still looks like he needs some time in the AHL...

He's full of poop.
Top 6 will be the same with the exception of Miller possibly being the full time center on the top line.
My bet is Garland who was brought in to shore the top 6 will be in the bottom 6.
You have to be pretty narrow minded not to try Pearson somewhere else for a couple of games and try another offensive player on Bo's wing.
Green's preseasons are garbage. Maybe it's because he isn't that far removed from being a AHL coach that he keeps plugging them in until the end. - boonerbuck
Bo wants Pearson on his wing. Seems you are the only one that doesn’t realize this 🤷♂️ |

I watched him. He looked the kid in Peewee who’s better than everyone else, who can skate to every part of the ice in one zone and get the puck back, except he’s not in Peewee anymore and the other team has much more structure. I’m sure he will be fine. I think he could benefit from a dozen or so AHL games and practices with Cull. I like him in the Horvat spot on the PP, could be a nice addition to the second unit sooner than later.
But it isn’t up to me, coach Green will decide and I’m fine with that. |

He is the captain who we will likely try to resign this summer. Plus they have good chemistry. He also doesn’t want to smurfs on his wings. If you have Garland on your 3rd line you are probably making the playoffs |

Agreed. They need to be thrown into the fire a little here. Can't have them start the season too cold. - Retinalz
Canucks fans: why aren't you playing EP and Hughes? They've had one skate!

I agree about all over the ice. I think if you give him an electric shocker and every time he goes to the wrong part of the ice you zap him . He should learn from that.

Green was quoted this morning saying that Pods and Rathbone “have to find a way to make it” and that they haven’t made the team yet.
Which is how it should be.

I am not disagreeing with him but I do find it ironic because that is exactly how I feel about him and his coaching.
