I hear ya 7. Always good to have the muscle if needed but agree Trotz/Lou will be looking to ice the best roster possible regardless of Reeves, Wilson or whoever.

100% Streaks, this isn’t WWF it’s hockey at the end of the day. The shenanigans on the ice don’t count. It’s the scoreboard that tells the tale. For non competitive teams that counts. The Islanders don’t need to participate in that anymore to fill the seats.

Remember you can be 10% over the cap prior to day 1 of the season.
This gives teams flexibility before the LTIR kicks in on Day 1 of the season.

We have done this conversation a few times... they are allowed to be 10% all summer long but day 1 they have to be within cap. that is why you see a ton of guys Waived from all the teams over the last day of camp.

Has to be otherwise the Isles would have to shed 6 million in salary by next week to be cap compliant which isn't happening.

They will waive guys with larger cap numbers that will not get claimed like Leo, Hickey, etc. each will only save $1mill but enough of those and a few other guys you don't think will get claimed will be waived. Then when boychuk is put on LTIR you will see them activate those guys... like they did last year.

Well a good number of the people waived are just veterans that require waivers in order to be sent down to the AHL, so that's mostly just housekeeping to send guys to the team they're going to play most/all of the season with. Yes, obviously it sheds cap space as well...but they have to be put on waivers regardless.

He had a knee injury that bothered him in the playoffs, could be lingering issues from that too.

Sorokin can handle the first 3 games, but then we have 3 in 4 nights which means someone else would have to play at least one of them.

Martin is still there and Chara is as mean as they come so I'm not really worried about any team pushing the isles around. This team is deep as all 4 lines can play and hurt you where it counts, the scoreboard
