Trotz says he's about "98%" sure tonight's lineup will be the #Isles lineup for Thursday's opener.

#Isles in AM skate today:

Lee-Barzal-Palmieri
Beauvillier-Nelson-Bailey
Parise-Pageau-Wahlstrom
Johnston-Cizikas-Clutterbuck

Pelech-Pulock
Chara-Dobson
Greene-Mayfield

Sorokin
Schneider

I wouldn't be surprised to see them move Bellows and/or Aho. If they're not going to play here then they'd likely get lost on waivers heading to the AHL

Most likely but who knows with Lou. Guy always seems to pull a rabbit out of his hat when you least expect it.

I’m not well versed on the cap. If they clear does any of their salaries effect the cap? I’m guessing some of it must but not sure how much.

They save on some not all of their cap hit.

From memory, I think they get to bury $1 million per player when the guy gets sent down to the AHL.

This guy is predicting the Islanders will win the Cup. I think I liked it better when they were ignored by everyone in the media.

I was always a Ross fan but he’s just not a good hockey player. Have to think Bellows would be a better option in that spot than him until Martin returns.

I agree, I prefer they ignore the Isles. However, it sucked when they were the laughing stock of the NHL for years.

I thought Lee looked great last night and that’s about it imo. Wahlstrom made a bunch of plays that won’t exactly endear him to trotz. Pelech and Pulock looked great in spots and also pretty awful at times. Parise looked slow. Though I didn’t think any of the goals Sorokin gave up were especially terrible they weren’t exactly great either.

I just saw the 3rd period. Lee looked really good and Isles seem to put a lot of pressure. Rangers seem to make their goals look easy which may explain the below comments.

Yes agree. I posted last night I thought Lee, Beau and Dobson all looked great- but that was about 7 mins into the game. Then they all went to sleep except Lee. Was thinking the same about Parise too. He wasn’t very good. But then again, Bailey, Nelson and others weren’t great either. Maybe they’re all saving it for opening night!? Hopefully so.

Pretty much agree with all of this. Sorokin looked human last night. He didn't give up any softees, but didn't make all the difficult saves either, as we have come to expect. I think some credit should be given to the Rangers, too, who have a good, young, talented team. They were able to hit some corners over his shoulders with their shots.

I am a little concerned about Chara playing the PK. He was on the ice for 2 goals against on Ranger power plays, and I wonder if he's maybe too slow for the PK? If he's already playing 2nd pairing minutes, I think I'd rather see someone else, even Greene, playing the PK. Is the plan to use Chara at all on the PP?

I thought it was an awesome game to watch. It felt like the Rangers wanted to make a statement by setting a physical tone, the Isles were more than happy to oblige, the crowd got into it, and from there the intensity really picked up. It was probably even more enjoyable since it didn't mean anything...no reason to get anxious or mad if you're a fan!

PK wasn't good and there was a little sloppiness defensively, but also I think at one point well into the third the Rangers had two goals on just three shots in the period, so make of that what you will.

First line looked great, fourth line did its thing, Wahlstrom looked much better...created turnovers and could have had a couple of goals; Dobson looked really good. On the other end, the second line looked asleep for most of the game and Pelech had a rough one. The good news is those aren't the guys any of us are worried about when the games matter.

Kind of agree here. I'm sure Chara's not going all-in on preseason at 44 years old and that probably explains it, but he wasn't exactly the defensive stone wall I'm used to seeing, and yeah especially on the PK.

As you said, it's just a pre-season game, and an older veteran like Chara isn't exactly worried about losing his spot in the lineup. I am curious whether they will try to get Chara's cannon of a shot onto the power play, even if it's PP2. If so, they might want to take him off the PK completely.

Yeah agreed about giving the Rangers some credit especially Kakko. He to me pretty much always looks pedestrian and he was animal last night. Albeit a preseason game both him and Laf were impressive.

Chara and Greene's age are a concern for sure but I'm more worried about Greene as Chara is one of a kind with his size.
