Kind of agree here. I'm sure Chara's not going all-in on preseason at 44 years old and that probably explains it, but he wasn't exactly the defensive stone wall I'm used to seeing, and yeah especially on the PK. - UIF
I think you’re aiming a bit high if you’re expecting a defensive stone wall from chara.
He’s a bit long in the tooth and has to be utilized correctly and played to his strengths. |

Chara and Greene's age are a concern for sure but I'm more worried about Greene as Chara is one of a kind with his size. - ses111
They both have to play limited mins and get their breaks. If that’s done they’ll both be good for us imo. The only question is who is going to fill in the space for those mins? |

Monitoring and making adjustments as needed with Chara and Greene might be Lou and Barry's biggest challenge this year. Is Salo back in Sweden or with Bridge? |

This has to be the year Barry works in more young talent from time to time especially on defense. Tampa has been really helped with using young talent. |

I thought Lee looked great last night and that’s about it imo. Wahlstrom made a bunch of plays that won’t exactly endear him to trotz. Pelech and Pulock looked great in spots and also pretty awful at times. Parise looked slow. Though I didn’t think any of the goals Sorokin gave up were especially terrible they weren’t exactly great either. - Cptmjl
And Bailey was in mid-season 'puck dispenser to the other team' form. |

I agree that the blue line needs some youth to carry us through an 82 game season. I like both Greene and Chara but if the idea is to play them 15+ mins a game I don’t think that will end well. Not really sure who trotz would feel comfortable inserting into the lineup in spots? |

He made quite a few gaffes last night
Preseason game against a team playing to win unlike us for most of the game. |

Salo looks darn close and I think he could have started the season with Isles if needed. Can he be used if needed this year? |

Salo looked good in the brief time we saw him. It’s a great sign but who knows if he’s ready yet. Couple preseason games isn’t enough. |

I thought it was an awesome game to watch. It felt like the Rangers wanted to make a statement by setting a physical tone, the Isles were more than happy to oblige, the crowd got into it, and from there the intensity really picked up. It was probably even more enjoyable since it didn't mean anything...no reason to get anxious or mad if you're a fan!
PK wasn't good and there was a little sloppiness defensively, but also I think at one point well into the third the Rangers had two goals on just three shots in the period, so make of that what you will.
First line looked great, fourth line did its thing, Wahlstrom looked much better...created turnovers and could have had a couple of goals; Dobson looked really good. On the other end, the second line looked asleep for most of the game and Pelech had a rough one. The good news is those aren't the guys any of us are worried about when the games matter. - UIF
Fans definitely had a great game to watch UIF. I don’t think Barry will like the pk and D effort in this one as you said. I thought the Isles had a couple golden opportunities where they shot high and wide. That said, I thought Georgiev played well for the Rags and made some timely saves.
I agree 2nd line was invisible and Pageau and his line weren’t that impactful either imho. I thought Wahlstrom had a few good offensive opportunities but also made a few careless errors that resulted in offensive and neutral zone TO’s that Barry won’t be pleased with. Dobson continues to grow and looks more confident and stronger every game.
The preseason is over and now it’s time to step it up. LGI! |

100%. They changed their team because of our team’s make up and Tom Wilson. Every game against us will be a statement game for them. |

Couple of preseason games but a couple of years in the Swedish Elite League. I think it's important for the Isles to work some young talent into the lineup this year just to give some vets a break. Does not mean getting rid of the vets but it gives the young players some experience if they need to step in and play more. |

They’ll want him to be on the same path to the big club as everyone else. He’ll get his stint down in bdgpt to prove himself and get a look eventually. |

No #Isles on waivers today.
Hickey and Panik cleared from yesterday.
Still a few moves need to be made to get to 23-man roster at 5 p.m. on Monday. |

See ya Gustafson - Upstate_isles
He's signing back in Chicago
Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun

After a strong camp with the Islanders, Erik Gustafsson has been released from his PTO and hearing he will sign with the Blackhawks. Had a 60-point season in Chicago in 2018-19.
Aho is the 7th d-man and one of Bellows/Leo/MDC will likely be traded, since they put nobody on waivers today and have to cut down the roster by 5pm tomorrow. Doubtful it's Leo because they'll want his cap hit to get full relief from Boychuk |

My sauces tell me Matt Martin will be out till December and we are making a HUGE trade today. Komarov and Barzal are the main pieces. |
