Hearing #Isles have sent four of their remaining waiver-exempt players to Bridgeport in advance of today's 5 p.m. roster deadline.
Robin Salo, Samuel Bolduc, Anatolii Golyshev and Jakub Skarek all headed to the AHL.
Still leaves at least one forward spot to resolve.
I'd hope he just dumps Dal Colle off for a late-round pick or something, but definitely an outside chance he moves Bellows.
I guess it's possible that they could IR Martin (or Varly?) and create the extra spot while they sort out the roster. |

Chara/Parise (NYI) contracts now filed with the NHL. Both one-year deals at a $750,000 and potential $750,000 in performance bonuses.

Forward group is pretty lackluster, unless a few guys have breakout years.
But the blueline is shaping up pretty nicely. Salo/Bolduc should be pretty strong defensemen for them. Vande Sompel probably has a lot to prove after missing the last two seasons. Hutton always seems to be pretty solid, but I don't get the feeling he's got a future in the NHL. It's a shame Wilde won't be there this year, this is a pretty pivotal year for his development after a few oddball years for him.
Definitely looking forward to keeping an eye on Salo/Bolduc all year. At this point, they're easily our #2/#3 prospects behind Raty. |

Forward group usually seems to be weak. Barry did seem to be happy with Holmstrom so hopefully he has a nice year. Wonder if he can be a future Bailey replacement if he works out? |

Not giving up on Holmstrom, but it's hard to get excited about his future in the NHL until he proves he can perform in the AHL. I'd say this is a pretty important year for him to show something. |

Hopefully he has a nice year. It's going to be tough though if Bridge is so thin at forward. |

I don't expect them to be particularly good. Goaltending is kinda 'meh', too. |

Cannot believe Bridge is such a mess after all these years and Thompson seems to have a lifetime job. Did he get the same deal Garth got? |

So since Garf Bag was fired you don't a see difference in the developement of the new regimes draft choices? I mean that's our main objective with our prospects imho. |

I just want the Isles to be able to call up players from Bridge as needed and the players will be able to help. I'm not expecting superstars to come from Bridge but the Isles seem to be hesitant to use Bridge players for any extended time. |

He's signing back in Chicago

After a strong camp with the Islanders, Erik Gustafsson has been released from his PTO and hearing he will sign with the Blackhawks. Had a 60-point season in Chicago in 2018-19.
Aho is the 7th d-man and one of Bellows/Leo/MDC will likely be traded, since they put nobody on waivers today and have to cut down the roster by 5pm tomorrow. Doubtful it's Leo because they'll want his cap hit to get full relief from Boychuk - eichiefs9
Well that’s kinda surprising. |

Maybe they just offered him the veteran minimum and he wanted more? Or they felt they could get a comparable level of play from Aho and didn't see a reason to sign him? I dunno, not entirely surprised but it felt like he was going to end up here. I'm happy, his defense is a major issue. |

I think if a player is called up and plays at an NHL level they will stay. Honestly with the Islanders success the last 3 years and team chemistry it's definitely harder to break into the big clubs lineup. I don't think Thompson is a bad coach. I actually think he's a done a good job. MDC, JHS, Bellows etc. are what they are and quite honestly Thompson and his staff can only do so much with certain players imho. |

I guess Aho might get some games this year? I'm just thinking along the lines of injuries it would be nice if a Bridge player can step in and help instead of needing to make a trade. MDC, JHS, Bellows may not be good enough. Hopefully Lou's picks have better success. |

Gustafsson said he had a good camp with the Islanders but they didn't have the cap space to sign him.
Things didn't go so well with the Flyers & Alain Vigneault last year, though.

I think there's been a change from the top down in the whole organization Bridgeport included and its been positive. My opinion of course. |

Seems like maybe Wahlstrom is going to get sent down as a paper move to get them 23-man-compliant, then after Dal Colle clears Wahlstrom can be "called up" again before Thursday |

Can’t they just put Martin on IR and not have to send down anybody? |
