Just strolled past Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. Still an army of people working on it less than a week before the season starts. They’d better get….

….Kraken?

Went to their practice facility over the weekend. Very nice - 3 rinks, merch store, Starbucks (OFC) cafe, large outdoor space. Tons of kids there for various camps. Couple of hours during the day where it opens up for community free skate

Well #1 and #2 could describe Wrigley as well and they manage, but Wrigley does have public transportation.
- Angotti

Couple of light rail lines just went live last weekend. Assuming they go close to arena, that may be a solution for those further out.

Hawks would need to move some cap space to acquire Kessel. Plus, they already have enough suspect defensively forwards.
- Elbows15

The deal for Kessel was Strome Connolly Nylander Subban long shot I know but that is some cap space not sure about Subban I am not sold on Lankinen just yet lot more teams out there for him to see this year . I keep Subban around in some capacity sometimes it better the devil you know ..

Granted Gaudette looked very good in the first exhibition game, but since meh. He is also 25 years old. Yet because of one exhibition game, some on this board thinks he should be top 6. If he makes the team, he is no better than the 13th forward.

Disagree. Health issues held him back. I can see middle 6.

Hawks don't need to do anything on day 1 but put Shaw on LTIR to be cap compliant. Its day 1 of the season. Hawks don't play until day 2.
- Elbows15

Yep, that's why I said Dach, Kurashev and Kalynuk would be back in Chicago in time for the first game. Sending them to Rockford (in a paper transaction) would allow the Hawks to be cap compliant while including Shaw's salary. Put him on in-season LTIR, bring those three back to Chicago, and keep Strome and Nylander in Chicago while trying to figure out a trade.

I think Chicago can retain salary for one more player, so they may be able to get a decent return for a .68 ppg player at $1.5M

Yeah a handful of exhibition games is a bit early, let’s see how he’s doing after 20 regular season games. But I get LA’s sentiment, some posters can be early to rise a player to superstardom or to purgatory.

Gaudette had a solid 19/20 season, 33 points in 59 games. He had a big drop-off the following season but if that’s relegated to his health issues, and they’re resolved, then there’s a lot to be positive about. He won’t be the next DeBrincat to Kubalik, but Gaudette could be a solid middle-6 forward.

Have they also cured his allergy to the defensive zone?

Couldn't agree more with your Lankinen/Subban observation. The air on my Lankinen balloon lost a little altitude last year. Still think he could be a good keeper given time. Is now the time, or further down the road? Like always, I don't have the answer.

Well, there are those that believe that Stan has trouble with trades because he always wants to “win” the trade. These same people may or may not also be the same ones who believe that Kane is bad for the brand.
- Ogilthorpe2

And the same people who say Stan never gets enough in trade and gives up too much in trades ie. always "losing trades."

Some players are simply great in practice and games that don't count and go unnoticed in games that do count. Fans like they hustle but I'll take real talent any day. We have no idea what half our Forward group will be but as you said, let's see 20 regular season games and stop putting too much importance into exhibition games. The only guys trying on the other team in exhibition are bubble players too.
