oh I'm not saying Price is better or even "as good", but they're definitely not worlds apart, and I don't see how that is reductive, it is what it is.
- Pat1993

I do think they are world's apart, right now (before today's news).

And that is not a knock on Price.

It is more of a reflection on Vasilevski.

The Lightning are a good team.

They also lost some good players this off season (their whole 3rd line, I believe).

Still probably the best team in the league, certainly top 3.

But I do not think the Lightning are good enough to carry Price (pun intended) - this year or last year - into the playoffs, just so he can maybe decide to play good hockey.

I think you highly undervalue the contribution Vasilevski makes for the Lightning and overvalue (fully healthy) Price's ability to replace him with minimal impact.

- Mashadar

I find you might be undervaluing what the impact of having such a roster in front of you can have, but it's not entirely impossible that you are right either.

Well if this place ever needed the #Optobus to be in full form, it's now! Here I go!

Allen will hold the fort (he did it quite well last year) until Price comes back. And when he does, he'll be better than ever after getting some help....

.... just like his buddy Jonathan Drouin who will be our offensive dynamo to begin the year as a ppg player in the first 20 games;

Caufield will be the obvious calder choice by december, on his way to the first 30 goal season of his career;

Habs have a deeper top 9 than they ever had since 1993;

Evans will be almost as good as Danault for a fraction of the price;

Despite a so-so camp, young guys like Poehling and Romanov WILL be better once the season begins.

It's happening!

I think you undervalue yourself and what you bring to the HB theater. I think you Carey this thread and Sid knows that.

in 95-96 Montreal's top 3 centers were Turgueon, Damphousse and Koivu. wingers included Recchi, Rucinsky, Kovalenko, Bure, Savage.

ummm.... I think you might want to do a little backreading while the song "Man in the mirror" plays in the background.

I may have overlooked that one.

Then again, while the centres are considerably better in 95-96, I'd take our 21-22 wingers over that list.
