Bergevin looks tired and done. I think he's just fed up with this job and the pressure that comes with it. I suspect a good friend elsewhere in the NHL told him he already has a job waiting for him after the season

I'm going to go with a prediction just for fun. Martin Lapointe is going to be named Bergevin's successor at the end this upcoming season.

- stinger67

I don't think Bergevin wants to leave Montreal.

I wouldn't be shocked to see him promoted to president of hockey operations and have someone else be the GM though because, as you said, he looks more and more broken and tired as time goes on.

Love what he has shown so far.

He's not flashy but he gets the job done.

I like the player in a vacuum. I hate trading for him and trying to make him into a 2 C. I hate giving up a 1st round pick, even with the conditions, in a year they don't look like they'll make the playoffs...and I hate that in a year they likely won't make the playoffs they made a trade to get better this year while giving up futures but still not good enough to make the playoffs, thus making their eventual 1st round pick less valuable. I like Dvorak in a vacuum but outside that vacuum it's just another thing to add on the pile of poop that's been the Habs since the playoffs ended

Agreed with the prediction of Lapointe as GM, he is Bergy's replacement, they've been preparing him for the job.

Lapointe GM and Molson will distance himself from hockey operations and hire Quintal as El prezidente

I agree about dogs.

But didn't Markov's ex-wife die that year and he had to fly to Russia to go get his kids mid-season, came back like a (frank)ing trooper then you let him go for 1 year of contract?

Then he cries because Carey is depressed in a press conference.

You will not find many positive from me about MB, and for the most part, I think he has done a terrible job with few good things that have happened under his tenure.

But I think his emotions are genuine and I would not criticize him for that.

I can't believe my google search history now has a search for "plural of penis" but:

plural penises also penes

Also:

Latin, penis, tail; akin to Old High German faselt penis, Greek peos

Never again will I use the term chasing tail

A lot to unpack here.

Like you said, don't mind the player at all. Just not on board for the expectation and the assets they gave up for him, given the current state of the team.

My problem under MB (and the last 30+ years) is the Habs just don't stick to a plan - either be all in, or rebuild. You can't be both. And it seems the Habs flip flop every year between building assets and trying to be all in, when in fact, they do not have the team to success at either (either get poop picks position on top of poor development or trade assets / sign bad contracts).

Montreal is an exercise at mediocrity.

On a good year.

Like I said, I do not have many good things to say about MB.

But I do believe he cares for (most of) his players, and perhaps, even too much to the point where it impacts him making good hockey decisions (contract wise, trade wise, roster wise).

they had a chance to start over a few years ago. when Pac wanted out, Price was coming to UFA, Weber, Gallagher still had some value... that was time to strip it down to the studs and get max ROI on their assets. now it's too late, they are what they are.

Vancouver doesn't get swept off the map with covid do they even make the playoffs? Remember how this team looked two weeks before the playoffs?

They caught lightning in a bottle...had a first round without Tavares and for part of it Muzzin...the playoffs lined up for them.

Take a sober look at the team

Snuck in last place, injured a couple of key players on the other teams and got crushed in the finals

Than lost most of the key pieces in that drive in the summer or camp
