they had a chance to start over a few years ago. when Pac wanted out, Price was coming to UFA, Weber, Gallagher still had some value... that was time to strip it down to the studs and get max ROI on their assets. now it's too late, they are what they are. - DoubleDown
If they're bottom of the league at the trade deadline they should trade every vet they can for first round picks in the Bedard draft and ice a crap team next year.
Or pretend Suzuki is a first line center, Caulfield is a 50 goal score, Romanov and Norlinder are first line d, take the next ten years and tac it onto the last 30 of doing the same thing and expecting different results. |

Bergevin looks tired and done. I think he's just fed up with this job and the pressure that comes with it. I suspect a good friend elsewhere in the NHL told him he already has a job waiting for him after the season
I'm going to go with a prediction just for fun. Martin Lapointe is going to be named Bergevin's successor at the end this upcoming season. - stinger67
I think you are right for the 1st paragraph.
not sure about the 2nd though.

He'll do ok on the first line but ok doesn't win you cups. I'd rather see him dominate the second line matchups. Same with Caulfield, he's going to score a lot of goals, but not the amount people are expecting. I find the hype over Roman9v and Norlinder absolutely fascinating considering they haven't really shown all that much. |
