If what people have been saying on here is true (that we offered BT an 8x$8M contract), that's not nickel-and-diming to me. It, in fact, strikes me as a fair offer.

If it was that easy, by giving him a deal that he truly knows could be worth more than he would get in 4 years as he plays a very physical game.....he wouldve signed by now.

No captain will be named. Give the current team a year to gel and see where you are at. A dark horse like Stu or Batherson may become a legitimate option. Hell Brown might be a great option if he continues to put real solid years together. The fact Chabot hasn't been named captain, leads me to believe, they'd prefer someone else but who knows.

Very few long term deals work out. Swallow the pride and sign the kid. The greatest Senator to ever play never had long term deals and no one said boo. Sort of sad to see this all occur to a game that we should all just be enjoying, especially with fewer tarps over seats this season.

Right on the money! Ian Mendes said it best today about Matt Tkachuk. After he gets his money for year 7 next year, Flames might have had him for his best point production years by the time he becomes a UFA!

I think that barring epic levels of stupidity and/or incompetence, and in Ottawa that's not a given, this team should be a serious contender a couple three years down the road.

Having said that when I look at their opening lineup for the season opener I can't help but feel that they are going to get smoked.

For myself I never expected much this year anyway and I would take comfort from knowing they'll get a good crack at Shane Wright.I just hope Pierre"Proudest Day of My Life" Dorion doesn't panic and try to add to his long list of glorious achievements.

I dont follow the sens too closely but in all seriousness, what is the hold up with the Tkachuk signing? Just sign him already. he seems to enjoy playing for the sens and with his teammates. This seems penny wise and pound foolish. Get him and Norris signed and drop the puck already. I want to see a bunch of fast energetic kids play hockey.

You are absolutely correct that he loves the city, loves his teammates and personally this should have been done a month ago! Great to have a hockey fan jump in here to chat hockey that isnt a Sens fan.

I was impressed with the team play by Pittsburgh tonight! Nice to see them do so well without their big names!
