I believe the team who lost him on waivers gets first crack if he's put back on waivers. At that point, no waivers needed to send him down.

The first priority is always to keep NHL players playing in the NHL. There was speculation that several teams put in a claim for Gadjovic. If San Jose decides he isn’t a fit and want to send him down you might be right, Vancouver might have the first refusal but I’m pretty sure they can’t send him to the AHL without the other teams who put in a claim having that chance first.

I believe it was Reid Boucher who was waived by the Devils, claimed by the Preds, waived by the Preds and the Devils tried to get him back and send him down but the Canucks also put in a claim and kept him in the NHL the rest of the year.

He won’t fire either. It’s a two year plan.

He'll have to, Petey will request a trade like Eichel if the team doesn't make the playoffs this year.

I don’t think this is accurate. I believe the other 30 teams would also have to pass. If someone wants him in the NHL that’s where he would play 1st.

But yes, I expect they will both be available on waivers again.

Both Gadz and MacEwan are fringe players. MacEwan is 25 at this point and all the development in the world couldn't turn him into a full time roster player. It sucks to lose assets, but the waiver wire is a good system to let older, fringe players move to potentially greener pastures. I wish them both the best.

I doubt that. Also, Eichel isn’t complaining to get out because the team is bad, he wants out because the team wants him to have a surgery that he thinks will harm him later in life.

I agree, teams shouldn’t have guys in the AHL that other teams have a legitimate NHL job for - to a certain point. Obviously a good team shouldn’t be penalized for being good and lose young (next generation) talent. The current rules are pretty good.

He also wants out because the team is bad, it's just that the team wants him to have a surgery he disagrees with that's the kicker.

Once a team claims a player from waivers, it may not trade that player unless it first offers him to any other teams who made waiver claims for him. If the claiming team places the player on waivers in the same season and his original team claims him, the team may send the player to the AHL without placing him on waivers again unless he meets the criteria for waiver expiration below.

https://www.litterboxcats...vers-cba-florida-panthers

This is the expiration rules:

Waiver expiration
Once a player clears waivers, the team does not have to immediately reassign the player. However, once the player has played ten games or spent thirty days on an NHL roster, the waivers expire and the player will have to clear again before being loaned to another league.

If you don't have to put him on waivers, then no one else can claim him obviously. It says nothing about other teams who placed claims during the first waive.

Yeah, it’s not totally clear. It’s one of those examples that doesn’t get noted. I just remember this situation happening with Boucher because it involved the Canucks, but it was a while ago.

From the article you posted - waivers expire after 10 games/30 days. Which is why when NJ claimed Boucher back they had to place him on waivers again and Vancouver claimed him.

So with Gaj, if San Jose places him on waivers in Oct to send him down the Canucks could get him back and put him right in Abby.

As Jim Benning said to Lloyd Christmas, there's always the chance the team stays injury free this year.

Does this mean the Canucks get first rights or does it mean if he makes it to the Canucks in the waiver order? If it's the latter then I'm surprised that the NHLPA agreed to that since guys on two-way deals would obviously rather see if any other teams will claim them to keep up on their NHL roster so that they can get paid the big bucks

What are Dowling Petan and Highmore.

This team starts to make up for several mistakes, only to start making more mistakes.
A team full of midgets/lightweights, isn't winning anything anytime soon.

Schenn will throw em. Poolman/Chiasson/Myers/JD bring some size. Garland and Hog are small, but yet they love going to the dirty areas on the ice and never seem to get intimidated. Bo will stand up for a teammate. That Finnish kid they just got from Florida seems to enjoy mixing it up.

They'll be fine
