I didn't hate most of the game. Can see things that need to be better but not horrible for a first game.
- VANTEL

Some strong points OEL looked decent and the shrimps looked buzzing in the zone. PP looked shaky however and Pettersson really needs to shoot more. It will come have faith in the Greener Pastures

Well my opinion of both teams remain the same. Van not as good as bubble, not as bad as last year. Edmonton, not a cup contender at all. They look the exact same despite any additions/ changes.
- Sayros

Keith and Hyman will improve the OIL immensely. VAN looks about the same on the bubble for now. 6 game road trip to start the year love the scheduling by the league lol

Stole a point late.

Pearson over Hogz?

- boonerbuck

Hogs looks to be hungry again. His play along the boards, tenacity, speed, going to the dirty areas and coming out with the puck...should be only a matter of 6-12 games before Pearson is a 3W but there is the Green factor lol

The schedule was approved by Jim.

They (owner) wanted away games to start hoping the extra time would mean less strict capacity rules and bigger crowds.

But way to find something to whine about. You are the king influencer where it comes to excuses!

Hyman and Keith will help them score more, but their problem isn't scoring more.

Decent game to start the season. A few points: 1) I liked the skating especially in the first; 2) finish wasn't there but it's to be expected at the beginning of the season and EP/QH not in camp but I expect the offense to improve; and 3) my biggest takeaway is that EDM is not very good.

They seem to be at the same level as van. Their 2 guys have big influence but the oil ain't winning the div and they'll be bounced early in the playoffs.

This div is wide open due to all the craptacular teams. If the Oilers are supposed to be challenging for the division, I think the Nucks are better off than we expected.

Since I'm in Germany and it's 9 hours ahead of Vancouver, I won't be able to watch any games live until January

How did the D look, any less scrambly? From what I've read the team played decently, in a very Travis Green kind of way

- NewYorkNuck

The team played pretty well. Just nothing created offensively.

SCF were 28 for the Oilers 17 for the Canucks.

It's still a Green coached team. Tons of shots from really low shooting percentage areas, no traffic, no pressure, no sustained Ozone time really.

I don't know a place where to see what the stats were but I swear zone exits for Oilers have to be a good 80% for the game and probably 50% for the Canucks.

Pretty sure it was minivan who didn't like him. That guy is terrible at player evaluations.

- Reubenkincade

I'll be the taller man and won't get into your evaluations. Keep holding on to that one you got right.

Good to know, thanks Hopefully Shaw can make adjustments/implementations through the year and get the zone exits up

Yeah, the fact that Van is projected by most to finish 5th in the div is hilarious to me, it's like they've never seen how bad all these other teams can be

Someone in the local media needs to tell Green that Hogs needs to be top 6 permanently so Green can bury him on the 4th line for the season.

There always seems to be just a very large gap between the defence and forwards going both ways.

They don't ever move as a unit still. It's early even though they have had pre season and many practices but doesn't look like a lot has changed.

A lot of the new guys looked good. OEL was good, although early, I don't think he is enough to prop up Myers.

Garland was shifty but it felt like a lot of the time, he was being shifty because he was all alone just waiting for teammates to arrive.

Yeah. I don't think it's unreasonable that someone thinks van will finish fifth. What I find interesting is the consistency in the projections. What I mean is that I see the division as "anything can happen." I can see the Canucks and some other teams finish as high as 2nd or as low as 7th. So I would have thought that there would be a larger difference in projections.

Long of way saying that the div could be in a blender this year.

Hey all, what can the Flyers expect from MacEwen?

Looking for a scouting report and what fans really think of the guy.

As most of us have wanted for a while, TG has got to go. At first he didn't have the players for the system, but after this long he does and his system is still poop.

Myers is so tough. He needs a stay at home defenseman to prop him up, but a) the Canucks don't have that on the left side, and b) why are they paying 6 mil to prop him up

I wonder if Hamonic comes back, if they'd consider benching Myers...
