My fiancé, prior to working as a RN, worked at several community living residences.

Her job was to assist all those with special needs, so no, I don’t find that funny either.

I think the point is that people are generally ok with something unless it hits home personally. Gervais talks about this a lot - he will do a joke in a certain area and he will here people complaining about that one bit but not all of the other bits that didn't hit home in their world.
