Gotta give Pittsburgh it's credit for their forecheck. They completely smothered Tampa into making quick decisions and limiting their ability to run and gun up the middle of the ice. - j.boyd919
Yeah, just because one team didn’t show up doesn’t mean the other team automatically shows, too. The Pens could have been equally as flat and not executed their system at all, but they did show and up played their system to a T.
This is as short-handed as any club could have been and the Pens had every excuse in the book for playing bad hockey, but they didn’t. |

True, I'm not trying to throw Simon under the bus. Just want to see more of DOC.
ERod, Simon, Boyle I think are spots 11-13 when Sid, Jake, and ZAR return so those are the guys DOC needs to jump over. And I'm not sure that he does, I'd just like to give him the chance to find out. - Tojo.

I was going to say something similar last night. Usually you don't see a team so tight and fast on the first day of the season. Normally takes a week or two before the guys get into shape. Most of the team barely played in the preseason. Credit to Sully, he had them ready to go.
I have a feeling the Pens are going to try playing the "underdog/chip on their shoulder" role this year. Most analysts are writing them off. |

You get embarrassed so many years in a row come playoff time and people tend to write you off. |

I was shocked DOC didn't get time in WBS to start the season. He had a great camp and all, but his first pro season was such a mess I thought a couple of months in a regular lineup role at the pro level would have helped him out. |

Did you see that pathetic excuse for a shot on the 2-1? You call that a deke!?
Bury him in the AHL where he belongs! |

You didnt use sarcasm font...no idea if this for real or not.
I wasn't overly thrilled with the re-signing of him but so far, since I first saw him in pre season up to the game Tuesday, my eyes have been surprisingly pleased. I think you could do much worse in your forward corps...and we have before.
You get the sense this is do or die in the NHL time for him too...one year contract that could end up getting him paid well for a few more seasons in North America if he produces this one.

Oh my bad. Definitely was meant as sarcasm haha I obviously don’t post enough on these boards.
I actually like Simon as a depth piece for this team and think he has some value. You certainly could do worse (see Mark Jankowski). |

Maybe Dach should have given up on playing the puck if he’s not allowed to get hit. |

Yeah....I just looked at it. I think Landy had enough time to not do it. Dach was on his knees for a while....on the other side, Dach did have the puck and was making a play with it while getting hit. Is there rule against this kind of thing?

This was supposed to happen a year earlier but they got super lucky with a shortened season and Kuch being out. - 668710
You guys got this wrong. I took the Cooper statement as a shot at Pittsburgh's line up. Listening to 105.9 this morning, I believe it was Josh Yohe, said it was meant as a slight.

Having the puck doesn't negate player safety rules.
